Present the pictures fr candy bar, ckies, watermeln, and mnkey. Hld up the picture fr mnkey. Mdel the wrd fr Ss and have them repeat it after yu.
What’s this? It’s a mnkey.
What are these? They are ckies.
Repeat the prcedure using ther pictures fr single bjects.
Step2, Talk abut the stry.
Have Ss pen their bks at pages 62 and 63. display yur cpy f the page. Ask these questins abut the pictures.
Picture 1, Where are Ann, Ken and Mcky?
Picture 2, What des Mcky find n the shelf?
Picture 3, Hw many are there?
Picture6, Des Mcky like watermeln?
Picture 10, D yu think Ann and Ken will take Mcky there again? Why nt?
Step3, Stry.
Have Ss lk at the pictures as the tape is played.
T: Nw we’re ging t hear what the characters said.
Play the tape, pausing at each new picture. Have Ss repeat the wrds befre yu mve n t the next picture.
Play the tape again, this time withut stpping.
Replay the tape again. Chse fur Ss t rle-play the first picture. Explain the use f please t the class. At the same time yu culd intrduce thank yu.
Step4, Structures review:
Use the pictures in the stry t review the questins What’s this? What are these? Wh’s he? Wh’s she?
Ask Ss t say each ne in turn.
Step5, Hmewrk.
Have Ss tell their families abut the stry.

Draw their attentin t the pictures at the tp f the page.
Display yur cpy f the page. Play the tape nce. Pint t each picture as it is named.
Play the tape again. Have Ss tuch the crrect picture as they hear the wrds.
Step3, Listen t this.
Draw Ss’ attentin t the pictures and wrds n the bttm half f the page. T: Nw we will listen t the sund f the beginning letters f sme wrds.
Play the tape f the first wrd. Have Ss pint with their pencils t the first letter f the wrd as they hear it.
Ask them t say the first sund f the wrd, fr example, /s/ snake /s/.
Repeat the prcedure fr all the ther wrds.
Play the tape. Have Ss check the pictures in the rder that they hear the wrds.
If Ss are nt able t tell yu the beginning sunds and letters, replay the first part f the tape t give mre practice.
Step4, Read and match.
Have Ss pen their bks at page 65. draw their attentin t the wrds in the bxes.
Display yur cpy f the page. Have Ss name each picture. Pint t each wrd in bks as yu read the wrds alud t the class.
Have Ss say the wrds after yu and tuch them in their bks.
Put Ss in pairs. Ask them t draw lines cnnecting each speech bubble t its matching picture. Check t see that all Ss d this crrectly.

Have them stand in a circle and hld up their drawings.
Ask and answer ne by ne.
Use these sentences: Are these ducks? Yes, they are. Hw many are there? There are six.
Have Ss turn t page 66. display yur cpy f the page and read the wrds in the speech bubbles alud, pinting t each wrd as yu d s.
Read the sentences again, and have Ss repeat them after yu. Encurage Ss tuch each wrd as they say it.
Step3, Listen and number.
Draw Ss’ attentin t the bttm half f the page.
Let Ss listen t the tape and d the exercise.
Step4, Write the letter.
Have Ss write the letter p n the line t cmplete the wrd.
