Archaelgist Fan was sent t Dunhuang after graduating frm Beijing University in 1963. While in Dunhuang, a remte village in the desert then, Fan lived in an abandned temple. At first, she did nt even dare t g ut t the tilet at night. T prtect the treasures frm sand and dampness, Fan and ther wrkers put drs n the caves, planted trees and started mnitring temperature and humidity in the caves. Chimps use lud calls and gestures t make their feelings knwn but until nw, the exact meaning fr individual mvements has remained a mystery. Nw researchers believe they have translated the key gestures used in the chimp cmmunity and identified their intentins fr the first time.
