A grup f small, waggling (扭动) rbts that cmmunicate by flashing lights can make cllective decisins. This is similar t the prcess bees use t reach an agreement n where t build their nest.
“We believe that in the near future there are ging t be simple rbts that will d jbs that we dn’t want t d, and it will be very imprtant that they make decisins n their wn,” says Carmen Miguel at the University f Barcelna in Spain. She and her team tested hw cpying bees might help with that.
When bees g huse-hunting, they cmmunicate their preferred lcatins thrugh a “waggle dance”. The mre a bee recmmends ne lcatin, the lnger and harder it waggles. Eventually ther bees jin them, and they reach an agreement when a majrity are waggling tgether. Researchers previusly translated this behavir int a mathematical mdel, and Miguel and her clleagues used it t prgram decisin-making rules int small rbts called kilbts.
Each kilbt with three thin legs had an infrared-light emitter (红外线发射器) and receiver, and a clred LED light. Within a grup, kilbts culd mve arund, turn clckwise r anticlckwise and use infrared signals t exchange infrmatin.
Ezequiel Ferrer at the University f Barcelna says that acrss all the experiments, kilbts reached an agreement within abut half an hur, even when they didn’t have many immediate neighbrs t cmmunicate with. He says that getting the right cmbinatin f hw lng they spend transmitting their message and hw much they walk arund allwed them t make a cllective decisin in the end.

The missin is simple. Arrive n freign sil, fit in and wait. Then, when the time is right, emerge frm the shadws and take ver. This prcedure, familiar frm spy fictin as the preserve f sleeper agents, is als the strategy f certain invasive plant species.
Invasive species that stay put, knwn as sleeper species, are nt hard-wired t d s. Their natural tendency t expand is, instead, held back by sme external factr. With the climate rapidly changing, Bethany Bradley at the University f Massachusetts wndered whether alteratins in temperature and rainfall had the ptential t activate sme sleeper species. As she reprts in a paper in Bilgical Invasins, the answer is a definitive yes.
Dr Bradley and her team came t their cnclusins by studying 1,795 plant species in nrth-eastern America identifiable as freign but nt yet lcally listed as invasive. Of these, 169 were unquestinably demnstrating invasive behaviur in ther parts f the wrld, and causing damage t their envirnment. That suggested they had the capacity t cause similar damage in America t.
T determine whether the cnditins cming t the regin wuld activate any f the set 169, the researchers first identified the cnditins under which these species wuld thrive (旺盛). A number f the plants n their list were held back by the cld winters that are less and less cmmn in the regin. They als fund that sme ther species required mre rainfall than is typical.
Accrding t the team’s findings, climate change is n track t awaken 18 sleeper species that culd cause serius envirnmental and ecnmic prblems. Dr Bradley estimates that they will start t make themselves felt between 2040 and 2060 if smething is nt dne sn.
The mst practical curse f actin, in her view, is t seek these sleeper species ut befre they are able t spread. Remving them tday may be expensive, but it will be far cheaper than trying t weed them ut tmrrw.
12.What strategy d sleeper species emply?
    A. Rapidly expanding in new envirnments.
    B. Patiently waiting fr human interventin.
    C. Remaining inactive until cnditins are favrable.

    A. Slwly adapted.B. Slidly supprted.
    C. Externally influenced.D. Naturally prgrammed.

    A. The ptential risks they culd pse in the future.
    B. Their invasive behavir in ther parts f the wrld.
    C. The reasns why they failed t survive in America.
    D. Pssible ways t make them less cmmn in America.
15.What’s Dr Bradley’s suggestin fr dealing with sleeper species?
    A. Let nature take its curse.B. Preventin is better than cure.
    C. Cutting budgets is a tp pririty.D. Delay actin until it’s necessary.

G t fficials. Letting bullying g t far can lead t all kinds f ptential physical and psychlgical damage.⑤ Meetings like this can g ne f tw ways — yu can fcus n the prblem by yurself and make actins against the bullies, r yu can wrk with schl fficials t start prgrams that educate their students abut bullying and seek t cntrl it in the schl.

根据第四段中提到“She explained that she ften wndered abut what she culd have dne differently when her children were in their earlier years.(她解释说,她经常在想,当她的孩子们还小的时候,她能做些什么不同的事情。)”;同时结合第五和第六段“What is yur biggest regret frm yur early days as a parent?( 在你为人父母的早期,你最大的遗憾是什么?)以及“It turned ut that all f them thught they culd have dne it better.
根据第五段“With that in mind, I asked six lder parents ne questin: What is yur biggest regret frm yur early days as a parent?(带着这样的想法,我问了6位年长的父母一个问题:你做父母之初最大的遗憾是什么?)”以及第六段“It turned ut that all f them thught they culd have dne it better.
根据最后一段“The bttm line is, we all feel like we culd be ding this parenting thing better, And quite clearly, years later, we’re still ging t lk back and wish we tried things differently. But the past can’t be changed, and neither shuld it.(最重要的是,我们都觉得我们可以做得更好,而且很明显,多年以后,我们回首往事,还是会希望我们尝试了不同的方法。
根据文章第二段““We believe that in the near future there are ging t be simple rbts that will d jbs that we dn’t want t d, and it will be very imprtant that they make decisins n their wn,” says Carmen Miguel at the University f Barcelna in Spain.( 西班牙巴塞罗那大学(University f Barcelna)的卡门·米格尔(Carmen Miguel)说:“我们相信,在不久的将来,会有简单的机器人来做我们不想做的工作,让它们自己做决定将是非常重要的。”)”

根据文章第三段“Researchers previusly translated this behavir int a mathematical mdel, and Miguel and her clleagues used it t prgram decisin-making rules int small rbts called kilbts.(研究人员之前将这种行为转化为一个数学模型,米格尔和她的同事用它来将决策规则编程到称为kilbts的小型机器人中。)”
根据文章第一段“A grup f small, waggling (扭动) rbts that cmmunicate by flashing lights can make cllective decisins. This is similar t the prcess bees use t reach an agreement n where t build their nest.(一群小型的、摇摆的机器人通过闪烁的灯光进行交流,可以做出集体决定。
    12.答案:C

    32.答案:a;f;t entertain;and/r;was written/had been written;its;heres;easily;beginning;wh/that
a universal frm f literature。故填a。
故填and/r。
故填was written或had been written。
故填its。
故填wh或that。
