Just ff Orland’s busy Internatinal Drive sit ppular turist attractins such as Universal Orland Resrt and Disney Wrld. One cmmunity that quietly sits in the shadws f these turist attractins is Tangel Park. In the past, this cmmunity had very few services r transit ptins fr residents. The cmmunity struggled with many scial prblems that ne resident explained were s bad that “yu culdn’t even walk t the stre because yu were afraid f being rbbed at any time”. Educatin in Tangel Park struggled as well; nly a few students culd graduate frm the high schl.
Rsen grew up in a pr family in Tangel Park as his parents mved there. He didn’t see anything wrng with hw he, his family, and his friends lived until a turist remarked, “S this is hw they live fr the rest f their lives.” He was s embarrassed that he was determined t change his fate. He received a bachelr’s degree frm Crnell University and went n t have a successful career wrking fr Disney, and he decided t give back t his cmmunity.
Cmmunity leaders met with Rsen in 1993 t discuss a pssible slutin t these grwing issues in Tangel Park. In just an hur, with mney guaranteed by Rsen, the leaders came up with the idea f develping the Tangel Park Prgram (TPP). The prgram ffers free preschl fr every Tangel Park 2-t-4-year-ld. As well, TPP gives free cllege tuitin and living expenses fr every Tangel Park high schl graduate wh is accepted t a cllege.
In the 29 years that TPP has been active, the Tangel Park cmmunity has experienced exceptinal imprvement. Furthermre, intrverted students are less likely t participate in grup discussins, and ftentimes feel mre pressure and anxiety t becme extrverted. These feelings can easily f lw int ther aspects f life and impact an intrvert’s scial and academic life.
