The use f iPads has encuraged greater sharing f resurces amng teachers. All cmmunicatin with parents is nw dne by e-mail. Wrking as a grup in class is much easier as children can share dcuments. The whle class can lk at ne child’s bk by cnnecting the iPad t the whitebard. If a child has frgtten the textbk, the teacher can take a phtgraph f the relevant (相关的) page and send it t the student in class.
While the use f the iPad in schls has changed the way children are taught, it hasn’t cmpletely replaced mre traditinal methds f teaching. Chinese high schls differ frm American high schls in many ways.
The class structure (结构) is different. Students have each class in a different rm with a different set f classmates in America, while Chinese students remain in the same classrm all day.
In additin t the structural difference, Chinese high schls als differ frm American high schls in the cllege applicatin prcess (大学申请过程) that students experience.
In the United States, clleges use an applicatin system that cnsiders a student’s high schl grades, standardized test scres, after-schl activities, teacher recmmendatins, and ften a persnal interview. Usually, the last few mnths f senir year has little wrk.
The Chinese cllege admissin prcess is very different. Cllege acceptance is depended n standardized examinatins held nce a year at the end f each schl year. Althugh students take tests at the end f their first and secnd years f high schl, the test that really matters is the exam taken at the end f their final year f high schl.
The main way in which Chinese and American high schls differ is in the way infrmatin is taught.
In America, persnal expressin is valued heavily. Many classes are based n discussin f the material, and teachers expect students t jin in this dialgue, s the classrm can becme nisy. Classrm participatin (参与), meaning hw a student cntributes t the class discussin, is an imprtant part f a student’s grade, s a student wh wrks hard but never speaks up culd receive a lwer grade as a result.
Chinese classrms d nt place this same imprtance n classrm participatin. Class is based n the teacher talking and the students listening quietly. Respect (尊敬) fr teachers is far mre imprtant. When a student is asked t speak, he r she is expected t stand. This classrm is mre frmal and respectful. But it als means less cmmunicatin between the teacher and students.

Cnflict (冲突) between teenagers and parents happens fr a lt f reasns. Smetimes cnflict happens between teenagers and parents just because cnflict happens between human beings anyway. Humans have different needs, different feelings, different pinins abut what they want, and the relatinship with peple can be really difficult. Hwever, teenagers can cause further cnflict because f the hrmnal (生理的) changes that are happening and the stage f life that they’re in.
Teenagers and parents have different understanding abut rules and at times they find it difficult t lk int the future. Therefre, parents and teenagers ften experience cnflicts in many areas, such as ding chres, finishing hmewrk, whether a teenager’s speech respects thers, and what they are allwed t d.
Befre we think abut rule bundaries (界线) fr teenagers, we need t make sure that we have a really gd relatinship base. There’s n pint saying “Frm nw n, yu have t listen t me”, if yu dn’t have a psitive relatinship with yur teenager. We need t g back and make sure there is sme degree f shared respect, and sme degree f psitive cmmunicatin and enjyment f being tgether. Ding this first means that the setting f rule bundaries is much easier.
Often we’re dealing with cnflict n the fly. This is nt the right time t be dealing with it. We really want parents and teenagers t sit dwn and think abut the kinds f things that may happen in the huse befre the prblems cme. The mre detailed yur rule bundaries are fr teenagers, the mre likely it is that they are ging t fllw them. S this means we dn’t have rule bundaries like “Have the bathrm cleaned”. It needs t be “The flrs mpped, nthing n the cuntertp (工作台面) and the mirrrs cleaned by ten ’clck every Saturday”: Rule bundaries need t be written dwn, and set ut ahead f time s the teenager knws exactly what’s expected.
32. What’s imprtant t setup a rule bundary easily fr teenagers?
A. Being strict frm the start.
B. Aviding clse talks with them.
C. Saying “N” t their requirements.
D. Develping a gd relatinship with them first.
33. Which f the fllwing rules are teenagers mst likely t fllw?
A. Ding sme husewrk. B. Finishing yur hmewrk by five.
C. Having a gd reading habit. D. Cleaning the bathrm.

A. In a hurry.B. On the plane.C. By neself.D. Anther day.
