The study, led by Takashi Nait and cwrkers, fcuses n a part f the brain called the prefrntal crtex (PFC). This area, lcated at the frnt f the brain, is crucial fr many imprtant mental tasks. As children grw, their PFC cntinues t develp. S this study aimed t fill that gap by examining hw simple exercise affects bld flw in the PFC f children. The researchers invited 41 children between the ages f 10 and 15 t participate in the study. These kids perfrmed seven different types f light exercise, each lasting either 10 r 20 secnds. The exercise included things like stretching, hand mvements, and balancing n ne leg. Then, the researchers used a technique called functinal near-infrared spectrscpy (fNIRS) t detect changes in bld flw in the brain, which can indicate increased brain activity. Their findings suggested that even shrt bursts f light activity can wake up the PFC in children. This culd ptentially lead t imprved fcus, better decisin-making, and enhance learning abilities.
Hwever, the research fcused nly n children aged 10-15, leaving questins abut its applicability t yunger children r adults. The sample size f 41 participants, while prviding valuable data, may affect the generalizability f the findings. Additinally, the study nly measured immediate changes in brain activity, nt lng-term effects r imprvements in cgnitive functin. Factrs such as individual fitness levels r daily activity habits, which culd influence the results, were nt cnsidered. Mre research is necessary.

C. It invlved adults in participating. D. The sample age range was t small.
11. What is the best title fr the text?

Frank Sinatra famusly sang that if yu can make it in New Yrk, yu can make it anywhere. And that’s just what sme scientists fcus n abut a particular species f ant.
This ant, als called the ManhattAnt, first turned up in New Yrk in 2011. But it's already develped and grwn. What's mre, ManhattAnts have started t spread utward, expanding their territry at a rate f abut a mile a year. “We predict that they culd expand as far nrth as Maine and as far suth as Atlanta, Gergia,” says American scientist Clint Penick.

Eventually, they definitively identified it as a species that's native t Eurpe. That effrt invlved cnsulting with a Eurpean ant expert wh culd hardly believe that this ant was living it up in New Yrk. “He was like, ‘They’re nt really pwerful in any Eurpean area,’” says Penick. Nw, ManhattAnts live n the sidewalk, but ants nrmally like t live in places like sil and leaf litter — including this species, which in its native Eurpe can be fund making its hme in frests.
Generally, these ants avid human fd. Their main fd is hneydew, a kind f sugary substance. The ants g up int street trees t lk fr hneydew, and it seems that they've fund a jb that's nt really being pursued by ther ants in this city. They’ll care fr the plant pests(害虫)that prduce hneydew, increasing the numbers f pests and cnsequently making life harder fr the plants.
It’s entirely pssible that, in the lng term, ManhattAnts culd have a disadvantageus effect n city trees. The fact that ManhattAnts haven’t been bvius truble-makers s far isn't necessarily reassuring. We shuld remember what Benit Guénard, an insect bidiversity researcher, has nted, “We knw that invasins(入侵)that appeared minr fr decades can suddenly becme serius and then cause majr prblems.”
12. What des the authr indicate abut ManhattAnts by mentining Frank Sinatra?

14. Why d ManhattAnts prtect the plant pests?
A. T save mre yung plants. B. T ensure their fd supply.
C. T replace their human fd. D. T make hneydew mre tasty.
15. What’s the authr’s attitude twards ManhattAnts?
A. Favrable. B. Unclear. C. Uneasy. D. Dismissive.

17 If we’re nt sure abut the requirements f a task r prject, we shuld ask questins befre cmmitting. Fr example, when a manager assigns a cmplex prject, we can ask fr mre details abut the resurces available, and ptential challenges. This way, we can make a mre infrmed decisin.
Mrever, we shuld learn t say n when necessary. 18 It shws that we respect ur wn limitatins and the imprtance f delivering quality wrk. Fr example, if we’re asked t take n a task that we knw is beynd ur expert knwledge r skills, we can plitely decline and suggest alternative slutins r peple wh might be better suited fr the jb. This actin will earn us the respect f ur wrkmates. 19

Fr instance, we’re asked t prepare a presentatin, but we can’t cllect all the necessary data in time. Then, we culd say, “ 20 But I’ll d that and keep yu updating n my prgress.” This way, ur superirs are aware f the ptential risks and wn't be blindsided.
A. Cmmunicating clearly is a wise chice.
B. Ding this desn’t mean we’re uncperative.
C. Naturally, we can maintain a gd reputatin in the wrkplace.
D. There might be sme challenges with finding enugh infrmatin.
E. Trusting each ther really means helping each ther in the wrkplace.
F. Instead f immediately saying yes, take a mment t assess ur schedule.
G. We create a psitive wrk envirnment where everyne can finish their jbs well.
