Hiking the Lngji Rice Terraces(龙脊梯田) in suthern China is smething I wuld advise everyne t d. The area cvers ver 16,000 acres, with their creatin beginning during the Yuan Dynasty. If yu translate it, the name means “Dragn’s Backbne” because f the fact that the rice terraces lk just like a dragn’s scales(鳞), while the tp f the muntain lks like its backbne.
I began my visit frm Ping’an, a small village, as I had stayed at the “Li Qing Guesthuse”. Frm where the bus drps yu ff yu will pass shps, and then yu will hike up t get t the guesthuse. It’s really hard, especially with yur bag n, but the view f the hill and rice terraces frm yur bedrm windw is really great. Frm Ping’an I hiked fr 5 hurs thrugh the Lngji Rice Terraces t the village f Dazhai. During the trip nt nly will yu view nature at its mst breathtaking, but yu’ll als get the chance t see clrfully dressed lcal Zhuang and Ya wmen wrking in the fields. The terraces are dtted with small hmes, and since I was with a lcal guide I gt the chance t stp fr lunch in ne f them.
