    Abraham and his mther, Miriam, have a passin fr taking care f the hmeless arund their neighbrhd in Jacksn, Mississippi. The pair have a histry f prviding fd t the needy every third Saturday, and they recently gt added help frm the Make-A-Wish fundatin in Mississippi after he was diagnsed with a rare disease, aplastic anemia, in 2020.
    The cnditin causes the bdy t stp prducing enugh new bld cells, leaving patients exhausted and easier t suffer infectin and uncntrlled bleeding. Abraham later experienced a successful bne marrw transplant (骨髓移植) and fund ut he was qualified t have ne f his dreams fulfilled by Make-A-Wish. It didn’t take lng fr Abraham t think f the perfect chice. He wuld cntinue the missin that was imprtant t him and his mm. With the help f the fundatin, Abraham fed abut 80 peple in Jacksn in September.
    When the hmeless peple gt the plate, sme f them wuld cme back and sing t them and thank them. “And it just really feels gd; it warms ur hearts. And my parents always taught me that it’s a blessing t be a blessing,” Abraham said.

    The study’s results prvide a fundatin fr future research that culd test the impact f scially engaged music listening n scial cgnitive ability, and whether listening t music can be added t therapeutic (治疗的) techniques used in scial skills training fr individuals with autism spectrum disrder (孤独症谱系障碍).
    The findings were published recently in a scientific jurnal f the American Psychlgical Assciatin. The study was led by Benjamin A.Tabak, assistant prfessr f psychlgy. “Empathy (共情) is mst ften thught f in the cntext f scial interactins, but there are many ther frms f scial cmmunicatin, including music,” Tabak said. “Music can cnvey meaning and emtin and als bring emtinal respnses, but what is respnsible fr its emtinal pwer is prly understd.”
    Tabak and his clleagues wanted t test their thery abut empathy and music. Fr the purpses f this study, they measured the ability t crrectly understand thers’ thughts and feelings — empathic accuracy — and the extent t which ne feels the emtins that anther feels.
    “We thught it wuld be interesting t study whether peple wh mre accurately under-stand thers’ thughts and feelings might als be mre accurate in understanding what musicians are intending t cnvey thrugh music,” Tabak said. “Similarly, we wanted t knw whether peple wh tend t feel the emtins that thers are experiencing als tend t feel the emtins cnveyed thrugh music.”
    The initial set f findings fund supprt fr bth hyptheses. In particular, the results suggest that empathic accuracy as a skill extends beynd interpersnal interactins int music. Tabak believes that the study prvides tentative supprt fr the thery that music is first and fremst a scial behavir that gradually develps t help individuals cnnect with thers and better understand and manage their scial envirnment.

    Cambdia recrded 792 rare white-shuldered ibises (白肩黑鹮) in its 2022 census (统计), an increase f 5 percent frm 755 birds in a year earlier, cnservatinists said n Thursday.
    Bu Vrsak, directr f BirdLife in Cambdia, said the census, jintly cnducted by the members f the Cambdian Ibis Wrking Grup (CIWG), fund 377 white-shuldered ibises at Siem Pang Wildlife Sanctuary, 326 at the Mekng Flded Frest, and 89 at Kh Srlauv, Kulen Prmtep, Lmphat, Srepk and Phnm Prich Wildlife Sanctuaries. “The white-shuldered ibis is ne f the rarest birds in the wrld, with the glbal ppulatin f apprximately 1,000 birds,” he tld the jurnalist. “Cambdia is the largest habitat fr this critically endangered species, accunting fr nearly 80 percent f the glbal ppulatin.”
    Vrsak said BirdLife in Cambdia is delighted t supprt this species wrking grup t develp and implement the Cambdian ibis cnservatin actin plan t prtect the critically endangered birds frm extinctin.
    Neth Pheaktra, secretary f state and spkesman fr the Ministry f Envirnment, said the gvernment thanked all cnservatin partners fr their effrts t prtect and cnserve natural resurces and wildlife, including white-shuldered ibises.
    “The Ministry f Envirnment and nn-gvernmental rganizatin (NGO) partners will cntinue their effrts t prvide safe habitats t wildlife thrugh law enfrcement (执行), lcal ecnmic supprting, and ther educatin campaigns t change public behavir,” he said. “The Ministry f Envirnment will cntinue t educate peple t stp trapping, hunting, eating and trading wildlife.”
