In March, 2023, a grup f cmputer scientists published an assessment f a new chatbt with artificial intelligence (AI). The team’s reprt drew glbal attentin t ne test in particular: We have a bk, nine eggs, a laptp, a bttle and a nail, and please tell me hw t pile them nt each ther in a stable manner. This is a tugh puzzle. Earlier versins f the chatbt gave silly and unreasnable answers. But the new chatbt’s unique answer helped set ff the current glbal wave f AI advcacy and anxiety. By 2022, LLMs were being trained n as many as 17 trillin wrds f human-generated text, mainly frm the Internet. The researchers were f curse aware f that and invented the “eggs and laptp” puzzle t prevent the new chatbt frm dishnestly cpying an answer frm the Internet. LLMs used language statistics nly.
