It was a surprise t learn that the additin f the ples makes it a mre vigrus, full-bdy exercise than simply walking – and, as a 76-year-ld lking t stay healthy while enjying the utdrs, I decided t give it a try.
There’s plenty f help nline fr the new Nrdic (北欧的) walker: stand tall, swing yur arms ut as if t shake hands, and plant yur ples with vigur. Then there’s the little matter f the strap (带子) n the ple. This allws the walker t grip the ple when thrusting frward and then relax that hand as the ther hand pushes frward – a skill f crdinatin that builds strnger muscles.
Fr a warm-up, I started slw: Nrdic walking dwn the hall that extends frm my frnt dr t the deck. Keeping balance wasn’t my nly prblem. The nvel use f my arms and upper bdy was surprisingly demanding. After half an hur, my heart was punding and I was sweating, but I still wasn’t much gd.
