I remember that it was a fall mrning when the rchestra (管弦乐队) teachers came int Miss Newell’s third-grade classrm. “Yu have hands fr the vila (中提琴),” Miss Cian tld me. I was excited because my hands were finally gd fr smething. I tld my parents I wanted t play, and naturally, they agreed.
Since I first tuched the vila, I haven’t been able t put it dwn. Ignring the difficulty, I am pulled clser t it each day.
Classical music is truly my best friend. It is the trusted friend f every man, wman and child. Varius feelings are expressed in classical music. I discvered that when I was eleven and played a cell cncert (大提琴协奏曲) f Bach in a cmpetitin, the first mvement was jyful, but the secnd mvement was mysterius and full f pain. Frm the piece, I learned that music expresses nt nly feelings, but als sudden md changes. By listening t classical music, I knw that smene else shares these feelings. Since I am lucky enugh t be able t play classical music, I am cmfrted by it when I am upset. It gives me a way t escape frm my prblems fr a shrt perid. Classical music can express my jy, sadness and anger.
Nw lk back at that fall day in the third grade and think hw gullible I was fr believing that anyne, even music teachers, culd tell whether hands were perfect fr a certain instrument. I’m certain they tld me I had “vila hands” nt because they were frtune-tellers, but because there was a lack f vilists in ur district. Classical music is ne f the best things that ever happened t mankind. If yu get intrduced t it in the right way, it will becme yur friend fr life.
    24. What’s the main cause f the authr’s interest in playing the vila?
    A. Interesting musical classes.B. Beautiful vila sund.
    C. Teachers’ prper guidance.D. Parents’ strng supprt.
    25. Accrding t the passage, in what way des classical music help the authr?
    A. By develping scial skills.B. By giving emtinal cmfrt.
    C. By bradening life experience.D. By building clse relatinship.
    26. What des the underlined wrd “gullible” mean in the last paragraph?
    A. Easily tricked.B. Firmly lved.C. Greatly challenged.D. Secretly hidden.
    27. Which culd be the best title fr the passage?
    A. Special Event, Sweet Memry.B. Classical Music, Endless Friendship.
    C. Lifetime Dream, Great effrt.D. Happy Childhd, Unfrgtten Experience.
C 25. B 26. A 27. B
根据第一段““Yu have hands fr the vila (中提琴),” Miss Cian tld me. I was excited because my hands were finally gd fr smething.(“你的手很适合拉中提琴,”齐亚诺小姐对我说。
根据第三段“By listening t classical music, I knw that smene else shares these feelings. Since I am lucky enugh t be able t play classical music, I am cmfrted by it when I am upset.
根据划线词后文“fr believing that anyne, even music teachers, culd tell whether hands were perfect fr a certain instrument. I’m certain they tld me I had “vila hands” nt because they were frtune-tellers, but because there was a lack f vilists in ur district(因为相信任何人,甚至是音乐老师,都能分辨出某人的手是否适合弹奏某种乐器。 故选A项。
通读全文,尤其是根据第三段“Classical music is truly my best friend.(古典音乐是我最好的朋友)”和文章最后一句“If yu get intrduced t it in the right way, it will becme yur friend fr life.(如果你以正确的方式了解它,它将成为你终生的朋友)”可知,本文主要讲述了作者一个偶然的机会开始拉中提琴,从此古典音乐成了作者最好的朋友。

Landfills are places where a large amunt f waste and ther refuse is buried in the grund. They are respnsible fr releasing a large amunt f planet-warming methane gas int the atmsphere, a new study suggests.
The study, which was published in Science Advances n Wednesday, is aimed at helping lcal gvernments carry ut targeted effrts t limit glbal warming by identifying areas f majr cncern. Fr this purpse, the scientists used satellite data frm fur majr cities arund the wrld — Delhi and Mumbai in India, Lahre in Pakistan and Buens Aires in Argentina.
Based n the cllected data, the scientists have drawn the cnclusin that landfills are the third-largest surce f methane emissins (排放) wrldwide, after il and gas systems and agriculture. And further investigatin shws that the methane released frm the landfills is generated frm the decmpsitin (分解) f natural waste in them, like fd, wd r paper.
Methane, thugh nly accunting fr abut 11 percent f greenhuse gas emissins, traps 80 times mre heat in the atmsphere than CO2. Scientists estimate that at least 25 percent f tday’s warming is driven by methane frm human actins. That’s why landfills are partly t blame fr the glbal warming.
Jannes Maasakkers, a leader f the study, said, “We fund that these landfills, which are relatively small cmpared t city sizes, are respnsible fr a large part f ttal emissins frm a given area.” Anther scientist, Euan Nisbet, wh was nt part f the study, said, “This new wrk shws just hw imprtant it is t manage landfills better, especially in cuntries like India where landfills are ften n fire, resulting in a wide range f damaging pllutants (污染物).” He als added that the newer satellite technlgy and n-the-grund research make it easier fr researchers t identify “wh is plluting the wrld”.
    28. Why did the scientists carry ut the study?
    A. T reduce the emissin f the methane.B. T help the authrities cntrl the glbal warming.
    C. T test ut the new satellite technlgy.D. T clarify which places peple are cncerned abut.
    29. What d we knw abut methane gas accrding t the passage?
    A. There exists methane in fd, wd and paper.
    B. Methane makes up mst f the greenhuse gases.
    C. Mre methane is released frm landfills than frm agriculture.
    D. Methane prevents mre heat in the air frm escaping than CO2 des.
    30. What’s Euan Nisbet’s attitude twards the study?
    A. Favurable.B. Cncerned.C. Unclear.D. Dubtful.
    31. What’s the main idea f the passage?
    A. Methane causes the temperature f the earth t g up.
    B. Satellite data help identify the surce f the pllutants.
    C. Landfills are t blame fr the release f much methane.
    D. Waste and ther refuse shuld be frbidden fr their impact.
B 29. D 30. A 31. C
根据第二段第一句“The study, which was published in Science Advances n Wednesday, is aimed at helping lcal gvernments carry ut targeted effrts t limit glbal warming by identifying areas f majr cncern.(这项研究发表在周三的《科学进展》杂志上,旨在帮助地方政府通过确定主要关注的领域来进行有针对性的努力,以限制全球变暖。)”
根据第四段第一句“Methane, thugh nly accunting fr abut 11 percent f greenhuse gas emissins, traps 80 times mre heat in the atmsphere than CO2.
根据最后一段第二句到最后一句“Anther scientist, Euan Nisbet, wh was nt part f the study, said, “This new wrk shws just hw imprtant it is t manage landfills better, especially in cuntries like India where landfills are ften n fire, resulting in a wide range f damaging pllutants (污染物).” He als added that the newer satellite technlgy and n-the-grund research make it easier fr researchers t identify “wh is plluting the wrld”.(另一位没有参与这项研究的科学家尤安·尼斯贝特说:“这项新工作表明更好地管理垃圾填埋场是多么重要,尤其是在像印度这样的国家,垃圾填埋场经常着火,导致各种有害污染物。” 故选A。
根据第一段“Landfills are places where a large amunt f waste and ther refuse is buried in the grund. They are respnsible fr releasing a large amunt f planet-warming methane gas int the atmsphere, a new study suggests.(垃圾填埋场是将大量废物和其他垃圾埋在地下的地方。

Dictinaries are essential tls fr peple wh like t read. There are s many wrds in English that even the mst educated persn will smetimes meet an unfamiliar wrd and have t lk it up.
    行为类:①容忍:bear/stand/tlerate ②瞥:take a glance at/glance at/glimpse/have a glimpse at
道歉:aplgize t/make an aplgy t
