Shrtly after its pening n the first day f Chinese New Year, The Wandering Earth began t gain mmentum (展现强劲势头). In a little ver a week, it made 2.8 billin yuan in the dmestic market alne. The film’s ppularity and success has cme as a surprise t many reviewers especially since there hasn’t been that much success fr Chinese-prduced science fictin in the past. Many agree that this film will change the embarrassing situatin and bring in a new age fr Chinese science fictin.
As a genre (类型), Chinese science fictin has lagged behind general fictin in bth the film and publishing industries. Even Liu Cixin’s (the authr wh wrte the shrt stry n which The Wandering Earth is based) The Three Bdy Prblem —which is currently quite ppular — didn’t have many readers until it was translated int English and wn the Hug Award (雨果奖) in 2015. Persnally, I haven’t read much f any genre written in Chinese, but I d ntice that there aren’t many separate sectins f the bkstre dedicated t science fictin. I cannt speak fr everyne, but sme peple seem t have misunderstandings regarding the genre.
My parents were the type wh tried t steer me in the directin f nn-fictin and the classics. They believed that science fictin and fantasy were “unrealistic nnsense” and wuld “rt my brain.” Actually, great science fictin writers d their research. Mre ften than nt, ne can learn a great deal abut science and its pssible develpment frm reading science fictin. Sure, sme f the cncepts may be cnfusing r technical in nature, but that is als part f the appeal. Things like the internet, electric cars and tablet cmputers were first therized (建立理论) in science fictin befre they were invented. The authr simply uses a cmbinatin f science and their imaginatin t create wrlds different frm the Earth f tday, frm which we can get bits and pieces that can be turned int a reality.
The wrld is changing. There may very well be a time when Earth is n lnger able t sustain the entire ppulatin. We culd be living n Mars r in giant spaceships; perhaps we will be frced t mve Earth t a new slar system just like The Wandering Earth. Each f these scenaris has appeared in science fictin multiple times. If we are t be prepared fr what is t cme, we can lk int mdern science fictin fr a windw int the future.
24.Accrding t the article, which f the fllwing statements abut The Wandering Earth is NOT true?
A.Critics did nt expect t much f the film befre its release.
B.It is the first time that Chinese science fictin has succeed in the film industry.
C.The film was adapted frm a shrt stry in Liu Cixin’s The Three Bdy Prblem.
D.In the future we might be faced with similar crises t the ne described in the mvie.
25.We can learn frm the article that the authr ________.
A.has little interest in science fictin
B.has never read Chinese science fictin
C.was nt allwed t read science fictin by his parents
D.has nt been prepared fr the future develpment f science and technlgy.
    26.Paragraph 3 mainly fcuses n ________.
A.the practical significance f science fictin
B.real technlgies inspired by science fictin
    C.peple’s misunderstandings abut science fictin
D.imaginary wrlds created by science fictin writers
27.What des the underlined wrd “scenaris” in the last paragraph prbably mean?
    A.strategiesB.prpsalsC.ideasD.pictures

He said businesses behind cnnected devices can expect the ICG t “act where we dn’t see the rules being fllwed.”
The prmise f actin cmes at a time when the ICO has pened a separate review int hw fertility (生育力) tracking apps prcess users’ persnal data due t cncerns raised in a survey. The survey fund that ver half f wmen have cncerns ver data security, and mre than half f peple wh use the apps have nticed an increase in baby r fertility-related ads (广告).
The ICO encurages users t share their experiences thrugh a survey t identify any pssible harm frm these apps. Emily Keaney, deputy cmmissiner f regulatry plicy f the ICO, sand that they expect rganizatins running health apps t safeguard their users privacy and have clear guidelines in place.
“This review aims t find ut bth the gd and bad f hw the apps are wrking at present. We will take actin t prtect the public if necessary,” said Keaney.

There has been a recent wave in Hllywd where studis take ppular animated (动画的) films and “imprve” upn them by changing them int live-actin remakes. The thught that live-actin mvies are better because they fllw the laws f the natural wrld degrades the style f animatin.
The beauty f animatin is that its use f caricatures (漫画) and exaggeratins (夸张) reflects an amazing amunt f creative depth in characters stries that reality cannt. Lking at the bigger picture, it becmes clear that the true purpse f Disney’s ever grwing list f live-actin remakes is nt t cmment n the value f animatin, althugh it indirectly des, but a quick way t take advantage f nstalgic (怀旧的) fans.
Fr evidence, lk n further than Disney’s 2019 The Lin King live-actin remake, a retelling f the 1994 animated classic. It brke several bx ffice recrds, raking in a whpping $543.6 millin glbally in bx ffice sales alne. Hwever, in cmparisn t the riginal, the audience satisfactin with the remake decreased greatly n Rtten Tmates. This is similar t the the remakes f Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Dumb, Aladdin, and the cuntless ther live-actin remakes Disney has prduced within the last 5 years. This means that Disney n lnger needs t cme up with new and riginal cntent because they can make a big prfit just by taking belved stries and remaking them.
In fact, Disney lks at itself as a business, and therefre cnsiders making a prfit as ne f their main aims.
The prblem with this mentality (心态) is that, while Disney makes a huge prfit, audiences, artists, and art suffer. They may n lnger create new stries r art styles, but rather serve as mney-making machines that require directrs t prduce the same stries with a fresh cat f paint every 10 years r s. If this cycle cntinues, artists will be held back frm creating new lvable characters and stries full f creativity. The feeling f nstalgia when we see ld Disney films culd pssibly never happen-t newer generatins if this cycle des nt stp.
32.What des the authr think f live-actin remakes?
    A.They slw dwn Hllywd develpment.
B.They’ve failed t becme a ppular art frm.
C.They are pr at shwing the beauty f nature.
D.They destry the artistic expressin f animatin.
    33.What makes animatin attractive?
A.It bases its stries n reality.B.It uses many special effects.
C.It explres characters fully.D.It brings back fans’ memries.
34.Why des the authr mentin the live-actin remakes in paragraph 3?
A.T tell us Disney has given up its riginality.
B.T shw Disney has fcused mre n making mney.
C.T prve t many remakes have been prduced.
D.T shw audiences have high expectatins f remakes.
35.What is wrng with Disney’s chice?
A.It reduces Disney’s incmes.B.It demands mre frm directrs.
C.It hurts new-generatin audiences.D.It causes artists t be less creative.
