The trch relay fr the Asian Para Games started n Thursday in the city f Hangzhu in East China's Zhejiang Prvince, with abut 210 trchbearers running alng an 11.8-kilmeter relay rute n the first day.
The launch ceremny kicked ff n Thursday mrning at Xiushui Square near the lake f Qianda, a must-see turist attractin in Hangzhu's Chun'an cunty that basts thusands f emerald islands.
Besides Chun'an, the trch will be relayed in the cunties f Jiande, Tnglu, Fuyang and Xiashan alng the Xin'an, Fuchun and Qiantang rivers, which all have wrld-class cultural turism sites, during the fllwing days. The trch will finally arrive at the Hangzhu Olympic Sprts Center t light up the main trch twer n Sunday.
Athlete Tan Yujia was the first trchbearer amng a ttal f 600 trchbearers frm 41 cuntries and regins.
The weightlifting champin f bth the Ri and Tky Paralympic Games and the current wrld recrd hlder in the wmen's 67kg weightlifting at the Paralympic Games, Tan tld the Glbal Times n Thursday that she felt extremely hnred and excited hlding the heavy trch.
"My md is as passinate as this flame. I have devted myself t training and preparing fr my third Asian Para Games. I definitely want t win the gld medal. If cnditins are gd, I hpe t try t break my wn wrld recrd," said Tan.
As 188 trchbearers are representatives with a disability, intelligent binic hands and legs, as well as intelligent guide dgs were used during the trch relay.
"Intelligent binic legs and intelligent guide dgs are being used fr the first time in a trch relay. We wish t cnvey the idea that technlgy can change lives and make the impssible pssible t peple, bringing cnvenience t the lives f mre disabled peple," said Du Zufeng, deputy cmmander f the Hangzhu Asian Para Games Trch Relay Cmmand Center.
Themed "Hearts Meet, Dreams Shine," the Games pening ceremny will be held at Hangzhu's "Big Ltus" Stadium n Sunday. Currently, all 19 cmpetitin venues in the eight cmpetitin znes f the Asian Para Games are ready. While nly tw f 19 venues are exclusively used fr the Games, the remaining 17 venues have als finished installing barrier-free facilities.
