The C919, China's first dmestically develped large passenger jet, departed Shanghai Hngqia Internatinal Airprt fr Beijing Capital Internatinal Airprt at 10:32 am n Sunday, embarking n its first cmmercial flight. The aircraft, develped by the Cmmercial Aircraft Crp f China, painted with a lg in the shape f a seal with Chinese characters "quanqiu shu jia", meaning first C919 in the wrld. The fight, MU 9191, is run by China Eastern Airlines. Abut 130 passengers are n bard. The flight duratin is abut tw hurs and 25 minutes. China Eastern Airlines received the first C919 n Dec 9 and launched test flights later that mnth. Accrding t a reprt published by the Science and Technlgy Cmmissin f Shanghai Municipality, 32 clients had placed a ttal f 1,035 rders fr the plane as f the end f 2022.
The C919 prject was launched in 2007. Develped by the Cmmercial Aircraft Crpratin f China, Ltd (COMAC), the first C919 aircraft rlled ff the prductin line in Shanghai in Nvember 2015. The plane cnducted a successful maiden flight in 2017. In the fllwing years, the C919 cnducted several test flights in different lcatins t test its capabilities. The C919 has gne thrugh tests in varius types f extreme natural envirnments including high temperature, high humidity, severe cld, gusts and freeze. Its safety, reliability, and envirnmental prtectin perfrmance have been cmprehensively assessed. It btained the type certificate in September 2022, which indicates that the jetliner's design meets airwrthiness standards and envirnmental requirements.
The plane received its prductin certificate n Nv 29, 2022, meaning the mdel can enter mass prductin. On Dec 9, 2022, the first C919 aircraft was delivered t its first custmer, China Eastern Airlines. After the delivery, the C919 jetliner cmpleted its 100-hur aircraft validatin flight prcess, cmprehensively verifying its reliability with cmmercial peratin in mind. The C919 had gained 1,035 rders frm 32 custmers by the end f 2022, accrding t the Science and Technlgy Cmmissin f Shanghai. The successful develpment f the C919 indicates that China has the ability t independently develp large passenger aircraft.
