It was the day f the big crss-cuntry run.Students frm seven different primary schls in and arund the small twn were warming up and walking the rute(路线) thrugh thick evergreen frest.
I lked arund and finally sptted David,wh was standing by himself ff t the side by a fence. He was small fr ten years ld.His usual big tthy smile was absent tday.I walked ver and asked him why he wasn’t with the ther children. He hesitated and then said he had decided nt t run. What was wrng? He had wrked s hard fr this event!I quickly searched the crwd fr the schl’s cach and asked him what had happened.“I was afraid that kids frm ther schls wuld laugh at him,” he explained uncmfrtably.“I gave him the chice t run r nt,and let him decide.”
I bit back my frustratin(懊恼).I knew the cach meant well—he thught he was ding the right thing. After making sure that David culd run if he wanted,I turned t find him cming twards me,his small bdy rcking frm side t side as he swung his feet frward.David had a brain disease which prevented him frm walking r running like ther children, but at schl his classmates thught f him as a regular kid.He always participated t the best f his ability in whatever they were ding. That was why nne f the children thught it unusual that David had decided t jin the crss-cuntry team.
It just tk him lnger—that’s all.David had nt missed a single practice, and althugh he always finished his run lng after the ther children,he did always finish. As a special educatin teacher at the schl,I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was prud f his strng determinatin.
We sat dwn next t each ther, but David wuldn’t lk at me._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I watched as David mved up t the starting line with the ther runners._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
David,I (a special educatin teacher),the cach时间:n the day f the big crss-cuntry run地点:at the starting line起因:David had a brain disease and he was wrried that students frm ther schls might laugh at him.经过:Thugh David practiced hard,he decided nt t take part in the crss-cuntry run.
2.理清文章三大线索时间线:the day f the big crss-cuntry run→finally→then→after making sure that David culd run if he wanted情节线:选手们在起跑线前热身→David一个人站在远离跑道的篱笆前→我询问David和教练为什么放弃比赛→我非常了解David面对的挑战并为他的坚强感到自豪。感情线:happy→cnfused→frustrated→determined
We sat dwn next t each ther, but David wuldn’t lk at me.With silence hanging heavily in the air,he ducked dwn his head.It seemed that he wanted t jin the run frm the bttm f his heart.S I patted him n the shulder and said,“Yu want t run, right?” Upset and hesitant,he ndded slwly.T encurage him,I whispered t him that he wuld definitely d a gd jb since he had practiced s hard.Hearing these wrds,he raised his head, with his eyes wet.I gave him a big thumb-up,which made him gather his curage and decided t run.He wiped ut his tears and std up,straightening his small bdy and mving thrugh the crwds.
I watched as David mved up t the starting line with the ther runners. When he set his ft n the line,I was wrried that ther children wuld laugh at him, since s many kids gazed at him with curius eyes.Hwever,s determined was David that he ignred everything arund him,nly watching frward. When the whistle rang,he tried his best t run as fast as pssible.Thugh the crss-cuntry run was tugh,he made it.T ur surprise, when he crssed the finishing line, the crwds burst int applause.David gave me a bear hug, revealing his usual tthy smile. It was his brave heart and strng faith that culd make smething unusual happen finally.
With silence hanging heavily in the air是with复合结构作状语;Hearing these wrds是现在分词短语作时间状语;s determined was David that... It was his brave heart and strng faith that...

When Dr.Hendersn was assigning(指定) prject mates fr his psychlgy class,I secretly hped that he wuld pair me with my best friend r at least a classmate I culd have sme fun with.Abve all,I hped he wuldn’t assign me t wrk with the fiercely cmpetitive and extremely serius fellw wh always wre dark clthes and apparently had a persnality t match.
As fate(命运) wuld have it,Dr.Hendersn very deliberately matched everyne in class and annunced that I wuld be wrking with the ne persn in class I wanted t avid.I went up t my new teammate and intrduced myself. He lked at me as thugh I weren’t there.I felt he treated me as thugh I wuld hld him back and prbably make him fail t get an A in the curse. He wasn’t mean r abusive; he just gave me the impressin that he culd d whatever prject we dreamed up better if he did it alne.
Needless t say,I didn’t lk frward t an entire term f being brushed ff,but I tried t make the best f it and didn’t say anything fr fear that I wuld make things wrse. The prject required each team t develp a hypthesis(假说),set up an experiment t test the hypthesis,d the statistical analysis and present the findings.Whatever grade the team received wuld be shared by bth students.
When my teammate and I met t discuss ur prject,I was uneasy. Here was this challenging student wh had a reputatin fr single-mindedness and gd grades—the exact ppsite f me.I actually wanted t drp the class at ne pint, but stpped shrt because I didn’t want t give him the satisfactin f my chickening ut.I decided t stick t it n matter what. After lng discussins we smehw agreed t d a study n the psychlgical well-being f teenagers.I wasn’t sure what it meant exactly, but at least we had a tpic.
We started t meet regularly t draw up ur plans._____________________________________________________________________One day I gt wrd that he was admitted t hspital fr a serius disease._______________________________________________________________________________________________________
    在所给的文本信息里,已经为下文续写内容埋下了伏笔,就是文章的最后一段“After lng discussins we smehw agreed t d a study n the psychlgical well-being f teenagers.I wasn’t sure what it meant exactly,but at least we had a tpic.”
(1)Did we share ur ideas with each ther?(2)Wuld that by like t accept my pinins?(3)What shuld I d when he ignred my advice?(4)Hw wuld I feel when he ignred my advice?
(1)Hw wuld I feel when I gt the news that he was admitted t hspital fr a serius disease?(2)Did I g t the hspital t see him?(3)Hw wuld he feel when he saw me in his ward?(4)Hw did we d the prject frm then n?
(5)Was the prject cmpleted n time?(6)Was the teacher satisfied with ur prject?(7)What did we learn frm the prject?
We started t meet regularly t draw up ur plans.Thugh I wanted t share my ideas with him fully,I failed t d s fr fear that I wuld hld him back.I just kept ndding when he asked me whether it’s OK t d this way r that way.I thught it was impssible t persuade him int accepting my views,s I didn’t want t waste ur time t discuss.I started t wait t leave immediately we arrived at the place, and s did he.I just hped that the presentatin day culd cme earlier.
One day I gt wrd that he was admitted t hspital fr a serius disease.I felt s srry t hear that and I thught I shuld visit him in any case.He was a little surprised t see me when I stepped int his ward with sme flwers and fruits.I ffered t d the rest wrk f ur prject and he invited me t share my ideas t perfect it.We began t wrk as a fine team and finally finished ur prject n time. Our hard wrk paid ff and Dr.Hendersn was very satisfied with ur wnderful findings.Frm this prject,we als learned the significance f teammates.Just as the saying ges,ne persn can g far,but a grup f persns can travel farther.
“Be sure t hang the decratins high,” said Plly,my stepmm.“Jake might mistake the clrful glass balls fr his tys and try t bite them.” Jake was new t ur family that Christmas. He was a beautiful brwn-and-white dg.And,f curse,he was laded with the curisity that made everything a ty.
Tw weeks befre Christmas,we brught ut the bxes f decratins, many f which had been in Plly’s family fr ages. Amng them was a special bx that held an entire gingerbread family(姜饼人).They were real ckies, hung with red ribbns(丝带) and made many years earlier.Every nw and then,I r ne f my little sisters—Ruth and Sue—wuld pretend we were ging t eat ne,knwing that Plly wuld say,“Yu’ll break a tth! They’re s ld that they’re rck-hard.” We didn’t really want t eat them, but we enjyed making fun f Plly.
Since we didn’t knw hw Jake wuld react t the decratins r the Christmas tree,we were careful t put the decratins up high.Jake sniffed(嗅) the tree a lt.Thse first cuple f days,Plly caught him starting t lift a leg n the tree twice. But he learned quickly and settled fr sniffing frm a distance. The weekend befre Christmas,Dad and Plly tk us t watch the new hliday mvie.Excited,we jumped int the car with bags f hme-made ppcrn, and ff we went fr a great evening.
A few hurs later,we returned hme,nly t terrible mess.It wasn’t the Christmas tree.In fact,we weren’t sure what it was.We std just inside the dr staring at the mess.As it turned ut,it was Jake’s bed, which he’d destryed.Left alne fr the first time,he must have gtten bred, attacked it and left it fr dead.We didn’t knw that the bed was nt the nly victim.
The next mrning,we girls were playing in the living rm when Ruth let ut a sudden cry._________________________________________________________________________________________“It wasn’t me,” I said,in case anybdy thught I’d had a midnight snack f rck-hard decratins._______________________________________________________________________________
表面上只是把他自己的床铺弄乱了,但是文章最后一段最后一句话“We didn’t knw that the bed was nt the nly victim.” 所以我们可以预测续写内容应该为:__________________________________________________________。
    Jake
可以进行如下设问:(1)________________________________________________________(2)________________________________________________________(3)________________________________________________________
What did the girls find while playing the next mrning?
    Was the gingerbread family brken?
Hw was the gingerbread family brken?
可以进行如下设问:(4)________________________________________________________(5)________________________________________________________(6)________________________________________________________(7)________________________________________________________
Hw did ther girls respnd t it?
Wh did they begin t suspect then?
    Hw did Jake behave then?
Wh did they find brke the gingerbread family?
The next mrning,we girls were playing in the living rm when Ruth let ut a sudden cry.“Hey,wh brke Gingerbread Baby?” Ruth asked. That brught Plly t the living rm fast. “Where? Shw me!” Ruth pinted at the frmer baby ckie, which was nw just a head, still tied t the tree by its red ribbn. “Here’s anther brken ne,” said Sue.It’s Gingerbread Grandpa.Or it was.Nw it’s just his head and hat. That caused sme inspectin, and sn it was clear that all the gingerbread men were nw just gingerbread heads.
“It wasn’t me,” I said,in case anybdy thught I’d had a midnight snack f rck-hard decratins.Quickly,my sisters made denials f their wn.Then we girls and Plly all lked at Jake. Until that mment,Jake had been sitting by Dad,lking happy as ever.Suddenly, his psture changed.Guilt spread ver his face. With his head bwed a little,he tried nt t meet Plly’s eyes, but it was clear what had happened. It was as if he were wearing a sign that said,“I killed an entire gingerbread family.”

On the furth r fifth night,we had truble finding a htel with a vacancy. After driving in vain fr sme time,Mm suddenly gt a great idea:Why didn’t we find a huse with a likely-lking backyard and ask if we culd set up a tent there? 2.
典例 (原文见2016·浙江10月)But n mre helicpters came and it was getting dark again.Jane was s tired, hungry, and extremely frightened. She thught t herself,“If nly I had nt quarrelled with Tm.Where is Tm?

1 He stpped the taxi, jumped in with the suitcase and tld the driver,“G t the plice statin, please.”
2 She wuld get ff the car excitedly, laughing and dancing arund.
2.续写常用的动作链形式(1)“A,B and C”结构“A,B and C”结构,就是多个连续的动作用在一个句子中。 The bys rushed excitedly t the lake,tk ff their clthes and jumped int the water.

The singer glanced at the audience,tk a deep breath and began t sing.
The ld man sat under the sunset, reading the newspaper and listening t the radi.
Having queued fr 3 hurs,he was tld that the ticket had been sld ut.
