The Chinese new year begins n 22 January 2023 and lasts until 9 February 2024. While mst f Asia celebrates the year f the rabbit, Vietnam (越南) celebrates the year f the cat. In the Chinese zdiac(十二生肖), there are 12 animals, and the 4th animal is the rabbit; while in the Vietnamese zdiac, the 4th psitin is gt by the cat. Nw, University f Tky researchers in Japan have created a new technlgy that uses fd waste in a surprising way. Student Kta Machida and Prfessr Yuya Sakai say the peratin can turn fd waste int a strng material like cement (水泥). They say it is fur times strnger than regular cncrete and is sustainable. And yu can eat it.
Thrugh a prcess f drying, crushing, and cmpressing(压缩)the fd waste, Sakai and his student Machida had successfully made cement frm fd waste withut plastic. “The mst challenging part was that each type f fd waste requires different temperatures and pressure levels,” Sakai said.
The team have used different types f fd waste t make the cement, including tea leaves, range peels, cffee grunds, and leftver lunch materials. They’ve adjusted flavrs with different spices and fund the clrs, smell and taste f the cement can be quite attractive.
