Since my sn went t cllege in Chicag, I made quarterly trips there fr the next three years. My friend Gerge was a ck there and he knew many utstanding restaurants. One f them was a Chinese restaurant called The Bird. It was wned and perated by Chef Benny My wh happened t be an ld friend f Gerge’s.
The dishes Benny prepared were unique, and everything was in his mind when he was cking. Just by changing, adding r remving an ingredient r tw, he culd cme up with an entirely new dish.
As a fan f Chinese fd, I was always attracted by its recipes. After a year went by, I finally gathered the curage t ask Benny if I culd spend a week learning cking in his restaurant kitchen. T my jy, he agreed readily.

Peple’s first memries are all autbigrapbical (自传式的), r memries f significant experiences in their lives, and these events typically didn’t happen befre the age f 2 r 3. Researchers then place the infant in frnt f a mirrr. Infants yunger than 18 mnths just smile at the baby in the reflectin, nt shwing any evidence f recgnizing themselves r the red mark n their face.
