Have yu ever seen a car withut a driver? It sunds crazy, but these cmputer-driven driverless cars will sn be filling rads near yu. Cmpanies like Ggle and Tesla have been designing and testing these cars, and they just need t see if they value fr mney, wrk ut insurance (保险) issues, and run final tests t check if they can run alngside human-driven cars n the rad.
S hw d they wrk? The cars have sensrs (感应器) all arund which can find ther cars and bjects n the rad. Sensrs n the wheels als help when parking, s the car knws hw far it is frm the utside f the rad r ther parked cars. Rad signs are read by camera, and satellite navigatin systems are used, s the car knws hw t get where yu want t g. All yu have t d is t type in the address! Finally, a central cmputer system takes in all the infrmatin that it receives frm the sensrs and cameras and wrks ut when t speed up, stp and turn.
Sund like yur idea f heaven (天堂)? Sitting back, lking ut f the windws and even watching a film r reading a bk while “driving” wuld be pssible with this new technlgy. Yu wuldn’t have t wrry abut remembering directins t where yu’re ging. In additin, cmputers wuld be better drivers than humans—they wuld bey the speed limit and have quicker actin when in dangerus situatins.
Hwever, there are many disadvantages f driverless cars. Cmputers wuld have difficulties making ethical (道德的) decisins: If a child ran int the rad, wuld the cmputer chse t hit the child r change the directin suddenly and ptentially kill the car’s passengers? Mrever, I persnally find driving fun—I’d miss driving a car myself. There wuld als be many ther decisins t be made: Shuld children, r drunk peple, be allwed in a driverless car by themselves? Or wuld there need t be a persn with a driving license in the car at all times?
Althugh being driven arund by a machine wuld perhaps mean that n ne needs a driving license, and saving mney fr everyne, many peple wuld be put ut f a jb when driverless cars appear. Bus, taxi and train drivers as well as driving instructrs wuld be made unnecessary.
I’m nt certain if I’d want a driverless car, but it’s nly a matter f time befre they’ll becme mre affrdable and cmmn n ur rads.

When my kids were yunger, when we had lng car rides, and whenever we stpped in between, there wuld be the jy f all f us singing Writing’s On the Wall, at the tp f ur vices alng with Stevie Wnder. Fr a while, Je Ccker’s Space Captain was their favrite rad trip sng and I remember them shuting with jy whenever it was played.
These days, when we get ut f the city, everyne settles int their electrnic wrld. I’ll read; the kids, wh are nw in their teens, have their headphnes n; and my husband wh is usually driving, listens t his wn playlist thrugh the ludspeaker in the car. Technlgy is changing hw we all listen t music.
When it cmes t technlgy, kids are like apex predatrs (顶级捕食者) while their parents are like impala (黑斑羚) in the grass, never knwing what’s cming up behind them.
My kids’ cnfidence in technlgy means that they teach me a lt abut using the Internet and apps. And yet, a key rle f parents is t let their children knw new ideas and t expand (扩展) their tastes. I can start with their music.
Being part f a family requires a shared memry bank, which is full f the fd we ate tgether, the things we did tgether and the music we enjyed tgether. Mre imprtantly, I want my kids t understand why I lve the music I lve, and why the mvies I watch matters t me—because sharing the why is imprtant.
A few days ag, I was arguing with my 14-year-ld daughter abut having her headphnes n. As usual, she wasn’t listening t me. But as we gt in the car she smiled sweetly, and cnnected her phne t the car s her music culd play ut lud. She had made a playlist, and, t my surprise, she had prepared a few sngs n there that I liked.
38.What did the authr’s kids enjy ding during car rides when they were yunger?
A.Talking with their parents.B.Singing tgether t the music.
C.Being lst in their electrnic wrld.D.Listening t their mum telling stries.

B.She has less knwledge f technlgy than her kids.

D.She is trying t have shared memries with her mum.

Hnestly, I had never enjyed reading science fictins until a friend f mine pressed a cpy f The Three-Bdy Prblem int my hands. “Yu’ve just gt t read this nvel!”
“Bu I have n interest in superheres fighting aliens t save the wrld. I prefer real peple dealing with real-life situatins.”
“Exactly. That’s why I want yu t read it”
But, he was right. I fell in lve with the bk frm the very beginning and finished it in nly a cuple f days. One reasn why it was such a page-turner was Liu Cixin’s wnderful stry-telling style. I especially liked his way f dealing with time. Mst bks are in the rder f time, but The Three-Bdy Prblem jumps back and frth. It starts back in histry, nearly 60 years ag. Then, it jumps frward 40 years, when the characters have becme elderly men and wmen, befre jumping back again.
And the lives f Ye Wenjie and Wang Mia certainly kept me turning the pages. Hwever, I als fell in lve with this bk because it was thught-prvking(发人深省的). Yes, there are aliens in it, but the theme f this stry is life n Earth and hw we humans are destrying the planet. Real-wrld science, histry and philsphy(哲学) are cmbined int this very attractive stry. As a great sci-fi wrk, it sparks(激发) interest in science, and it makes readers think.
The Three-Bdy Prblem has enjyed great ppularity wrldwide. It’s n surprise then, that it has been adapted(改编) int a TV series. At first, I didn’t like this idea. Bks ften lse a lt f their value when they are made int TV series. Bks are slw. Yu need patience t understand what is ging n. TV mves much faster. It is packed with actin and cl characters. Yung peple are ften mre interested in what they see n their screens than in the stries and their messages. Hwever, sme f yu may be t yung t fully understand bks like The Three-Bdy Prblem. A gd TV series can help yu t becme a better reader and can greatly encurage yu t read mre widely. But nce yu d fall in lve with reading, yu will realize that it is a gd bk, nt a TV series that will be yur friend fr life.
42.What can we learn frm the first paragraph?
    A.The writer wasn’t interested in sci-fi nvels.B.The writer’s friend wrte the sci-fi nvel.
C.The writer’s friend used t be a nvelist.D.The writer has n interest in reading at all.
43.Why did the writer finish the bk in nly a cuple f days?
A.Because the bk was a little bit bring.B.Because the bk was really attractive.
C.Because the stry in the bk is shrt.D.Because the stry was abut aliens.
44.Which f the fllwing statements is true?
A.The main characters in the stry are all aliens.
B.The superheres drve aliens away in the end.
C.The theme f the stry is hw aliens destry Earth.
D.The stry begins with what happened 60 year ag.
45.We can infer frm the passage that, in the writer’s pinin, _______.
A.a gd bk can make TV series mre valuable
B.there’s n need t adapt gd bks int TV series
C.yung peple are mre interested in reading bks
D.yung peple can understand sci-fi nvels better
