【词汇解读】 valuable形容词,意为“贵重的;很有用的;宝贵的”,在句中可用作定语,也可用作表语。用作表语时,可与介词t连用,常用短语be valuable t sb.“对某人来说很有价值”。anything valuable 一些贵重的东西。形容词valuable修饰不定代词anything要后置。当形容词修饰不定代词(smething, anything, nthing等)时,形容词应放在不定代词的后面。

【词汇解读】 pick up意为“拿起;捡起”。它是由“动词+副词” 构成的短语,当其宾语是名词时,该名词即可位于up之后, 也可位于pick与up 之间;当其宾语是代词时,该代词必须 位于pick 与up之间。另外pick up 还有(开车)接人; (偶然) 学会的意思。

语法重点: 情态动词表推测
表示可能、怀疑、允诺、愿望、义务、必要、猜测等的动词就是情态动词。情态动词可以表示说话人的语气或某种情态,也可以表示推测。英语中表示推测的情态动词主要有 must, can, culd, may, might, can’t等。
must > can > culd > may > might >can’t
1. mustmust表示可能性最大的肯定推测,意思是“一定、准是”。只能用于肯定句。如果要表示“一定不”,应该用can’t。eg:He must knw the answers. 他肯定知道答案。
2. may / mightmay, might表示推测“可能性”时,意思是“可能”,“也许”。might语气更委婉,可能性更小。may, might表推测时,可用于否定句,但不用于疑问句。eg:He may / might nt be at hme, but I’m nt sure. 他可能不在家,不过我也不确定。
3. can / culdcan表示推测“可能性”时,一般用于否定句或疑问句。can在疑问句中意思是“会,可能”。eg:He can't pick her schlbag up. 他不可能拿了她的书包。culd 表示某事有可能发生或可能是事实。eg:Dn't eat it. It culd g bad. 不要吃它,可能坏了。 The plane culd be put ff by the strm. 这趟飞机可能会因为暴风雨而推迟。
情态动词表示推测的意义和用法
(1)情态动词表示推测时,无时态区别,只有语气差别。表示推测的情态动词的语气强弱顺序如下(由强到弱): must > can > culd > may > might(2)含有must的句子(must表推测)变为否定句时,要用can’tHe must be at hme. →He can’t be at hme.
情态动词表示推测可以分为以下几种情况: (1)情态动词+ d 此结构表示对现在或将来情况的推测和判断。 eg: —D yu knw where she is nw? —I think she might travel in Beijing. (2)情态动词+ be ding 此结构表示对现在或将来正在进行的情况的推测和判断。 eg:At this mment, my father can’t be wrking in the ffice.
(3)情态动词+ have dne 此结构表示对过去情况的推测和判断。 eg:The rad is wet. It must have rained last night. (4)情态动词+ have been ding 此结构表示对过去正在进行的情况的推测和判断。 eg:Yur mther must have been lking fr yu at that mment.
