Kathy Xu, a high schl teacher in Singapre, had always wanted t see a shark in the wild. The pprtunity finally came in 2011, when she went n a trip t the Ningal Reef, ff the cast f Western Australia. She was s inspired by its beauty and grace that tears sprang t her eyes inside her snrkel(水下呼吸管) mask.
After returning hme, Xu learned abut the shark trade taking place at Tanjung Luarne, Indnesia's largest fish market, where shark parts including fins, meat and teeth are cut up fr exprt. Curius, Xu headed there and spke with several fishermen. Shark fishing is risky and invlves hard physical wrk, but it is ne f few ways fr them t prvide fr their families.
The fishermen were knwledgeable and felt a great sense f pride fr the lcal sea life. Once they heard that Xu liked t snrkel, they invited her t visit the c ral reefs (珊瑚礁) near the fish market. The reefs were extremely charming, full f life and clur. Xu was cnfident that ec-turism was the slutin—a way the fishermen culd make a living withut having t catch sharks. Tgether, Xu and the fishermen came up with the idea f snrkelling bat trips.
Snrkellers paid US$120 fr a ne-day trip t explre places the lcal fishermen knw abut but culd nt be fund n a Ggle search. It prvides a much mre reliable incme fr the fishermen than the dangerus jb f shark fishing.
In 2019, Xu and a shark scientist fund a clwn wedgefish, a relative f the shark. The species had nt been seen fr mre than 20 years and was believed t be extinct. The discvery gave scientists hpe. Fr nw, Xu, 41, is prud f the small changes she sees happening, frm the fishermen wh nw have a new way t earn an incme t the schl children wh learn abut sharks n turs.

After astnishing breakthrughs in artificial intelligence (AI), many peple wrry that they will end up withut jb pprtunities. A recent paper says that “arund 80% f the us wrkfrce culd have at least 10% f their wrk tasks affected". Anther paper suggests that legal services, accuntancy and travel agencies will face significant and unexpected disruptins(混乱).
Ecnmists, hwever, tend t enjy making predictin s abut autmatin mre than they enjy testing them.In the early 2010s many f them ludly predicted that rbts wuld kill jbs by the millins, nly t fall silent when emplyment rates acrss the rich wrld rse t all-time highs. Few f them have a gd explanatin fr why cuntries with the highest rates f tech usage, such as Japan, Singapre and Suth Krea, cnsistently have the lwest rates f unemplyment.
Here we intrduce ur first attempt at tracking AI’s impact n jbs. Using American data n emplyment by ccupatin, we single ut white-clla r wrkers. These include peple wrking in everything frm back-ffice supprt and financial peratins t cpy-writers. White-clla r rles are thught t be vulnerable t generative AI,which is becming ever better at lgical reasning and creativity. Hwever, there is as yet little evidence f an AIhit t emplyment. In the spring f 2020 white-cllar jbs rse as a share f the ttal, as many peple in service ccupatins lst their jb at the start f the cvid-19 pandemic.
It is, f curse, early days. Few firms yet use generative-AI tls massively, s the impact n jbs culd nly be delayed. Anther pssibility, hwever, is that these new technlgies will end up destrying nly a small number f rles. While AI may be efficient at sme tasks, it may be less gd at thers, such as management and wrking ut what thers need.
AI culd even have a psitive effect n jbs. If wrkers using it becme mre efficient, prfits at their cmpany culd rise which wuld then allw bsses t increase hiring.

A. Dubtful.B. Psitive.C. Puzzled.D. Curius.
29、What des the underlined part “vulnerable t” in Paragraph 3 prbably mean?

30、What may lead t the limited impact f AI?
A. AI technlgy is nt advanced enugh.
B. Businesses are resistant t using AI.
C. AI tls are ineffective fr mst tasks.
D. AI tls are still nt widely used.
31、Where is this text prbably taken frm?
A. A research plan.B. A user reprt.
