Turning 18 is a big deal when yu are a teenager. It means yu are respnsible fr yurself and dn’t need yur parents’ permissin any mre. Hwever, there are lts f pinins abut when ne becmes an adult. The prefrntal-crtex helps peple set and achieve gals by receiving signals frm different regins f the brain t prcess infrmatin and adapting accrdingly. That halfway develpment means that yu still have things t learn and yur brains still have time t develp until the age f 25.
Sme peple think ging ff t cllege and living n yur wn qualify(使……具有资格)yu as an adult, while thers may believe having a steady incme and being able t affrd t live n yur wn are what make yu an adult. Nt everyne has a frtunate life where they have family that can prvide supprt; there are situatins where yu are frced t becme an “adult” whether yu like it r nt.

Vlunteering takes up ur time, energy, and smetimes mney. It can be hard wrk. It can find us ding and seeing new things, which can be challenging and even a little scary. S why des anyne even g there?
On the ne hand, vlunteering is gd fr thers. The wrld is nt a perfect place, and many peple, animals, places, and cmmunities need help. Gvernments and prfessinals try t meet everyne’s needs, but it’s impssible fr them t d it all. This is why peple becme vlunteers: they can make a difference where smene r smething needs help. If peple never help each ther and nly care abut themselves, the wrld becmes a crueler, sadder place. But when we vlunteer ur time, mney r talents, we help t make ur planet a better, happier hme where peple cperate t make life easier fr all.
Actually, vlunteers and vlunteer grups can d many things. They can bring fd t hungry peple; they can find hmes r clthes fr thse wh need them; they can prtect wildlife and natural areas; they can bring cmfrt and happiness t lnely peple; and they can help peple learn t read r d better in schl.
