Step 1 Warming-up
1. Greet students abut summer hliday activities.
2. Share a prverb with students: Read ten thusand bks, travel ten thusand miles. Guide students t translate it, catch what it cnveys and hw t fulfill it. Then cnclude that stepping ut f the classrm enable them t braden hrizn and enrich their insight. Then lead in the tpic.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Present the title “A trip t China” t activate students’ mind abut any places that are wrthy f being visited.
Step 3 While-reading
1. First reading
Guide students t get characters’ relatinship and the destinatin they want t g in the dialgue: student and parents; the Silk Rad in China. Intrduce the Silk Rad t students: The Silk Rad gets its name frm the Chinese silk trade alng it during the Han Dynasty.
2. Secnd reading
Ask students t read the cnversatin again t find the answer f task 2 in the schlbk. While checking the answer, explain the structure “be ding” and “will d” and classify the differences between them. Fr the first structure, it is used t describe an actin which is bund t happen, while the secnd ne, t describe an actin withut any plans r intentins. The sentence-making culd help students t practice the usage f these structures.

Ask students t repeat after the tape t recgnize the tne and intnatin f different characters.
Step 4 Pst-reading
Guide students t refer t task fur in the schlbk t finish a grup wrk. Read the nte and take turns asking fr permissin t g n the trip. They can include: What d they want t d? Where/ When d they want t g? Wh will yu g with? They shuld fcus n hw t rganize their ideas t get parents’ permissin. The knw-hw is: the mre, the better. Supplement the usage f “ask fr permissin” which is similar t “be allwed t d”.

Summary: Invite students t rle play the cnversatin t review the listening material.
Hmewrk: Ask students t make a travel brchure abut the Silk Rad in grups, picture grup, rute grup, wrding grup, etc.
