whether/if及疑问词引导的宾语从句

宾语从句中引导词whether， if的用法：

由whether/if引导的宾语从句，实际上是由一般疑问句演变而来的。常用来表达不确定的概念。宾语从句要用陈述语序。一般来说，在宾语从句中whether与if可以互换使用。

eg：—I wonder if I may have a word with you.

       我想知道我是否可以和你谈谈。

      —Yes，of course.是的，当然。

但在特殊情况下if与whether是不能互换的。只用whether，不能用if引导的情况有：

（1）在介词的后面

    eg：I'm thinking of whether we should go to see the film.

           我正在想我们是否该去看这部电影。

（2）与or not连用时

eg：I can't say whether or not they can come on time. 我无法说他们是否能按时来。

（3）后面接不定式时

     eg：She can't decide whether to stay.

             她无法决定是否留下来。

疑问词引导的宾语从句

　    疑问词引导的宾语从句实际上是由特殊疑问句演变而来的，宾语从句要用陈述语序。常用于这种结构的动词（短语）有： say， tell， ask，  know， decide， show， find out， imagine， suggest， doubt， wonder， discover， understand，  advise等。

疑问代词有：who，whom，whose，which，what，在句中作主语、宾语、定语或者表语。

eg：Can you tell me whom you are waiting for？  

        你能告诉我你在等谁吗？

疑问副词有：when，where，why，how，在句中作状语。

eg：None of us knows where he bought this car.

        我们没有人知道他在哪儿买的这辆车。
