Elephants are large animals. People have long been interested in elephants. There could be many reasons for this. They can grow over 10 feet tall and weigh as much as 14,000 pounds. These large animals eat grass, leaves and fruit. An elephant’s long teeth never stop growing. However, the most interesting thing of the elephant is its trunk.
An elephant’s trunk is strong and flexible and it can do many things. Scientists believe the elephant’s trunk may have over 40,000 muscles (肌肉). Elephants can use their trunks to pick up small pieces of fruit or move large trees. With their trunks, they can reach high up into trees to get the leaves.
Elephants use their trunks to smell. They also reach out to say hi to one another with their trunks. A baby elephant will sometimes use its trunk to hold on to its mother’s tail so it doesn’t get lost as they walk to find a new place. As it swims, an elephant can hold its trunk above the water to take in air.
Elephants can also use their trunks as straws (吸管). First, the elephant will take water into its trunk. Then, it puts the end of its trunk into its mouth to give itself a nice drink. Sometimes, elephants will use their trunks as showers. They can fill their trunks with water and spray (喷洒) themselves.

①Recently, I have finished four space tasks. I stayed in space for more than 43 days, and complete six spacewalks for 43 hours and 13 minutes, so I have a lot of experience there. Today, I want to share some information unusual: what it’s like to eat in space.
②People often ask me if Tang—a kind of orange drink mix—is still taken in space. Don’t laugh, but we still drink it. Today’s space foods look like foods we’re used to eating every day. Foods, like nuts or brownies, can be taken on board as much as possible. But things like macaroni or noodles would be specially prepared, then kept and packaged (打包) to stop them going everywhere . It’s a difficult but necessary process. However, food on a space task can be quite rich and various, can’t it?
③The microgravity (微重力) on the space station changes things in some ways. For one thing, there is no “up” or “down” in space. It also changes how things taste. On Earth, most of your blood is usually below your heart. In space, you’re weightless, so the sharing of blood in your body changes. One result is lowering your sense of taste, at least at first. This happened to me on one task. When I took sugar candy, I wasn’t able to taste it until the ninth day.
④Food can be a real happiness in space. For us, eating is more than just getting power and energy. Familiar foods and tastes can remind us of home and keep us feeling that we still keep in touch with Earth.
56. What is the passage about?
A. Eating in space. B. Life in space. C. Exercise in space. D. Sleeping in space.
57. Who might the writer be?
A. A teacher. B. A scientist C. A police artist. D. An astronaut.
58 What does the underlined word “various” mean in the second paragraph?
A. Be of much money. B. Be of similar taste.
C. Be of different kinds. D. Be of the same color.
59. How is the passage organized?
A. B. C. D.

Schoolwork is becoming more and more difficult for students now. Recently, some new rules have been made to make them have a happy school life.
These new rules are made for schools in Jiangsu province. They include some parts. For example, teachers of primary and junior high schools can’t reveal (公布) students’ test scores. They should use letters like A and B to grade students’ test results.
Because of COVID-19, students spent a long holiday at home. When giving lessons to students on the Internet, they had less communication with students and didn’t teach as much as they do at school so teachers think students may get bad scores in the future. After the new term starts, some schools might give more homework or classes to students. But the new rules ask schools not to do that. At the same time, students should have music, sports and art classes as usual.
People have different ideas about the new rules. Yin Fei, a college professor, says some students are not good at studying, but they can do well in other things. So it is good to cancel (取消) scores. But Peng Ming, a teacher in Nanjing, worries about that. He thinks scores are still important. Students need to get high scores to enter good colleges and parents care about their children’s scores.
