Kiwis(几维鸟) are unique in a lot of interesting ways. They have many characteristics that are not found in any other bird.
It is assumed that the kiwi's ancestor was able to fly and reached New Zealand. Once on the island, it lost its ability to fly and eventually became the kiwi known today. Kiwis have feathers that look like hair and very strong and muscular legs. They rule the ground instead of the air. They can smell very well. Kiwis are quite shy and usually only come out at night. Kiwis can live a long time, between 25 and 50 years.
A female kiwi carries a huge egg about its body size. The kiwi is about the same size as a chicken but its egg is actually six times as large as a chicken's egg. The reason for this is that the kiwi doesn't have to fly, so there aren't any limits on its weight. The female has to eat three times as much as usual to help the egg develop. Right before the egg is laid she can't eat anything because the egg presses against her stomach, leaving no room for food.
All kiwi species are endangered. On average, twenty-seven die each week. They have been affected most by deforestation and invasive mammals. Before humans came to New Zealand, the only mammals on the island were bats(蝙蝠) and seals(海豹). The kiwi never had to worry about predators(捕食者) before, but now since it cannot fly, and lays its eggs on the ground, it is pretty defenceless against invasive mammals such as rats(鼠) and stoats (白釉). Maria Jones had just finished teaching a yoga class when she happened to notice an elderly man walking around by himself in the city centre of Aberdeen, Scotland.

According to Age DK,1.1 million older people rely-on using public transport for company. While health and mobility issues can lead to social isolation, the COVID-19lockdown, coupled with the upsetting (令人苦恼的) effect of the cost of living crisis, has contributed to a loneliness epidemic among the UK's older population.
Senior expert Sally Baker sees the necessity of establishing a programme to reconnect the older people with their local communities. And helping them access local transport links is the first step. She says that she understands why travelling on public transport can help to reduce loneliness. It offers a setting for conversations to spark up. “Sitting side by side is often less inhibiting(约束的) than direct eye contact,” she said.
However, Age UK is aware that many older people feel worried about getting out and about, with 38 percent saying they don't feel confident using public transport.

Bamboo drifting dated back to over 2,000 years ago in the Chishui River area of Guizhou. During the Qin Dynasty, the Bozhou district of Zunyi city was . known for its high-quality nanmu.
