There once lived a mouse and a frog who were very good friends.

Horse racing is a popular sport and social event in many countries, including Australia and the United States. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday, people go to a big grassy field and watch jockeys(赛马骑师) ride horses around a track(跑道).
An annual event in England is different from other races, thanks to some very special guests. The Royal Ascot(英国皇家赛马会) is held in June of each year. The British Royal Family always attend this race.
Jockeys, horse trainers and horse owners can win lots of money. In 2016, the total prize money for five days of racing at Royal Ascot was nearly 58 million yuan. That means the races are very competitive.
But while the races are important, a lot of attention is given to what people are wearing. The dress code(着装要求) is very strict. Ladies’ dresses must not show their stomachs or shoulders, while men must wear gray or black suits and top hats. However, this doesn’t stop people getting very creative with their outfits and wearing strange and wonderful hats.
Not every horse race is as big and fancy as this one, though. Most big cities have horse racing, but even people from small country towns in Australia enjoy going to the races.
An Australian country race day is much more relaxed than the one at Royal Ascot, but it is still among the biggest social events of the year. It is a fun place to meet friends, listen to live music, enjoy some food and drink and watch some races.

In Thailand, taxis are giving a new meaning to the term “roof(顶部) garden”. People are using the roofs of taxis to grow vegetables.
Many taxis in Thailand have lost business during the pandemic. To make better use of them, people have planted vegetables on their roofs.
Workers from two taxi companies built the small gardens. They put soil on the roofs and then planted vegetables such as tomatoes and beans. The result looks more like a work of art than a car parking lot. By doing this, they want to draw people’s attention to the difficulty of taxi drivers and operators (经营者), who have lost much business and money because of the pandemic.
These days, the two companies only have 500 cars left working in the streets of Bangkok. Meanwhile, 2,500 cars are left unused in the parking lot. The streets in the capital have been quiet. This has resulted in a fall in drivers’ earnings(收入). So, many drivers have walked away and left the cars in long, silent rows.
In fact, when the pandemic first hit, some drivers gave up their cars and returned to their homes in villages. During the second wave of the COVID-19, more have given up and returned their cars to the companies. This has left the taxi companies in great trouble. They have to think of ways to pay the loans on buying their cars.
The roof gardens do not offer a way to make money. “The vegetable garden is both an act of protest(抗议) and a way to feed my staff during this hard time,” the manager of one of the taxi companies said.

Horse racing is a popular sport and social event in many countries, including Australia and the United States. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday, people go to a big grassy field and watch jockeys(赛马骑师) ride horses around a track(跑道).

Not every horse race is as big and fancy as this one, though. Most big cities have horse racing, but even people from small country towns in Australia enjoy going to the races.

In Thailand, taxis are giving a new meaning to the term “roof(顶部) garden”. People are using the roofs of taxis to grow vegetables.
Many taxis in Thailand have lost business during the pandemic. To make better use of them, people have planted vegetables on their roofs.
Workers from two taxi companies built the small gardens. They put soil on the roofs and then planted vegetables such as tomatoes and beans.
