设计说明 设想一次长途旅行,由同学们自己决定旅行方式,并给出所做决定的理由,以自由讨论的方式导入新课。进行课文的整体教学设计,所设题目由浅及深,由易到难,逐步提升学生的阅读能力。朗读短文,比较各种旅行方式的优缺点,进一步学习形容词和副词最高级的用法。进行针对性的写作训练,提升学生的书面语言表达能力和正确运用形容词和副词比较等级的能力。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握本单元新单词journey,book,park,outside,however,cost。 2.能力目标 (1)能读懂叙述旅行方式的短文;理解语篇的主旨,把握细节信息。 (2)能运用形容词和副词的最高级。 3.情感目标 了解旅游和交通方面的信息,拓展视野,激发学习英语的兴趣。 重点难点 重点:课文朗读与理解;语言点的掌握 难点:灵活运用所学知识进行口头和书面的表达 教学准备 PPT课件;有关活动2的教学图片;活动2的录音 授课时数 2课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Talk about different ways to travel. T: Imagine you are going to Tokyo for a visit,how are you going there? S1: … S2: … … T: What do you think is the best way to travel to Tokyo? Why? S1: … S2: … … 2. Ask the students to work in pairs and talk about the ways to go to a city that they like to visit. Ask and answer the three questions or more. 1 How do you get there? 2 What’s the cheapest way to get there? 3 What’s the best way to get there? … Step 2 Listening T: Listen to the recording. Find out at least four ways of travelling mentioned in the passage. Ss:… Answers: by train; by coach; by car; by ship; by plane Step 3 Fast reading 1. Ask the students to read the passage as quickly as possible. Then number the ways of travelling from the most expensive to the least expensive. 2. Check answers in groups. Answers: a—4; b—1; c—3; d—2 Step 4 Careful reading 1. Ask the students to read the passage carefully. Complete the table after reading. T: First,look at the table and find out what kind of information you need. Second,read the passage carefully and underline the information. Finally,write down the information in the table. Ss:…

Correct their mistakes after they finish reading it. Step 5 Practice Complete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box. ( Activity 4 on Page 29) 1. Read the words in the box and check the meaning of them.
2. Ask the students to read the passage and think about the information that is missing,and then complete it on their own. There are four ways to travel from London to Amsterdam. How long does the journey take and what is the best way to travel? 旅程要花费多长时间?最佳的旅行方式是什么? how long意为“多长时间;多长”,可用来提问时间长短或物体的长度。 —How long are you going to stay here? 你们打算在这儿待多长时间? —For about a week. 大约一周。 —How long is the bridge? 这座桥多长? —It’s more than 200 metres. 200多米。 [提示] 提问“for +一段时间”用how long。 3. Could you please tell me about the trains or ships to get there? 请你告诉我去那儿的火车或轮船的情况好吗? “Could you (please) do sth.?”是一个表示请求的句型,意为“请你做某事好吗?”,语气非常委婉。肯定回答可用“No problem.”“With pleasure.”等,否定回答可用“Sorry,…”。 —Could you please give me a hand? 请你帮帮我好吗? —No problem. 没问题。 —Could you open the window,please? 请把窗户打开好吗? —Sorry,I have got a cold. 对不起,我感冒了。 4. The more information,the better. 信息越多越好。 “The+比较级,the+比较级.”是一个固定句型,表示“越……就越……”。 The more careful you are,the fewer mistakes you will make. 你越认真,你犯的错误就会越少。 The more books you read,the more you’ll know. 你读书越多,你懂的就越多。 5. Book your ticket before you book your hotel. 订旅馆之前,要先订票。 book此处作动词,意为“预订”,其宾语多为ticket,hotel和room等。 Miss Lin booked her train ticket on the Internet yesterday. 昨天林小姐在网上订了火车票。 [拓展] book作可数名词,意为“书”。 I borrowed some books from Mr Li last week. 上周我向李老师借了一些书。 6. However,it will not cost as much as going by train. 然而,它不会像乘火车那样花费那么多。 (1) however副词,意为“然而;但是”,表示转折,位于句首时后面用逗号隔开,位于句子中间时,前后都要加逗号。 I wanted to help him. However,he refused. 我想帮助他,然而他拒绝了。 [注意] but连词,意为“但是”,表示转折,它用在句子开头,后面不能加逗号。另外,它的语气非常强烈。 She knew the answer,but she didn’t say anything. 她知道答案,但她什么也没有说。 (2) 辨析:cost,take,pay与spend
The books cost me 89 yuan. = I paid 89 yuan for the books. = I spent 89 yuan on the books. 我买这些书花了89元。 It took me two hours to finish the work on the computer. = I spent two hours finishing the work on the computer. 我在电脑上花了两个小时完成了这项工作。 7. It is the fastest and the second cheapest,but you may have to wait for hours at the airport because of bad weather. 它是最快的且是第二便宜的,但因为恶劣的天气你可能不得不在机场等上几个小时。 辨析:because of与because
I didn’t go to school because I was ill. =I didn’t go to school because of my illness. 因为生病,我没有去上学。 Step 7 Writing 1. Asking and answering. (1) Ask the students to look at the information in the table,especially the headings. Then elicit what it is about. (2)Ask the students to work in pairs and use the information in the table to ask and answer questions about travelling from London to Paris. (3) Encourage some of the students to discuss the journey with more information besides those in the table. 2. Writing. (1) Ask the students to look at the information in the table again and think about what information can be included in their passage. (2) Ask them to try to make more sentences with the information and write a passage. (3) Encourage some students to present their passages to the class. (4) Discuss the examples. And then ask the students to improve or rewrite their passages.
