The temperature is 22 degrees now, and if you look outside your window, you should see the sun smiling back at you. We’ve been lucky not to have any rain lately, but that could change tonight. Temperatures are expected to drop to 12 degrees. Unfortunately, those temperatures are going to stay around there for the rest of the week. And it doesn’t look good for the weekend, either. There is a storm coming for the mainland area, so get out your umbrellas, folks. This will be accompanied by some high winds, coming down from the valley. Strangely, valley residents won’t feel the worst of it. As that wind blows between the mountains, it will pick up speed. Then it will hit the wind coming in from the sea and create some dangerous conditions by the sea. As always if there is anyone who needs assistance, we have a 24-hour line you can call here. Stay tuned for our traffic report and more hit music here on FM 99. 3.

Skiing has been around since early civilization, evidenced by a 5,000-year-old rock carving representing men on skis hunting deer in Norway, and the discovery of a ski dating back to 6000 B.C. found in Vis, Russia. Historians debate where skiing first got its start, though; some argue that it was in Altay, China, in 8000 B.C.
Modern skiing, however, can date back to the Scandinavians, who mainly used skis as a means of travel or for other practical purposes, particularly the Indigenous Sámi people in Norway, Finland, and Sweden, writes Raymond Flower in The History of Skiing and Other Winter Sports. Norse myths (挪威神话) even described Ull, a winter god, on skis with curved tips and included other stories of heroes and goddesses skiing down mountains.
Some of the first official competitions began around 1850 in Norway, with the first recorded race in Sweden held outside Stockholm in 1879. Skiing became a household word with the publication of the popular book offering a thrilling account of Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen’s difficult and historic journey on skis across Greenland in 1888.
The sport spread to the Swiss Alps, where it was enjoyed largely by British vacationers, before clubs popped up around the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Variations of the sport developed over the years, such as the slalom race (障碍滑雪), downhill jumping, and mountaineering. The British are largely credited with transforming skiing from its Scandinavian roots into the highly competitive sport it is now. In 1921, they developed rules that became widely accepted and adjusted the slalom race to include flag gates to test the skill of skiers’ turns.
Skiing then exploded in popularity after World War II, when ski resorts (胜地) gradually developed to receive single-day skiers as well as those taking longer vacations.
24. What can we learn about Raymond Flower?
A. He wrote about skiing. B. He invented skiing.
C. He recorded Norse myths. D. He was good at rock carving.
25. Why did skiing become a well-known word in the late 1800’s?
A. Some official competitions were held. B. The British spread it all over the world.
C. It was written in the textbook on history. D. An adventure book about skiing came out.
26. Who contributed most in changing skiing to a more competitive sport?
A. The Swiss. B. The British. C. The Norse. D. The Finn.
27. What can be the best title for the text?
A. How Did Skiing Develop in Norway? B. Why Did People Kill Time by Skiing?
C. What Are Skiing Adventures All About? D. What Are the Ancient Origins of Skiing?
A 25. D 26. B 27. D

根据第四段“The British are largely credited with transforming skiing from its Scandinavian roots into the highly competitive sport it is now.(在很大程度上,英国人将滑雪从斯堪的纳维亚起源转变为现在的高度竞争性运动)”可知,英国人在将滑雪变成更具竞争性的运动方面做出了最大的贡献。故选B项。

I heard many parents complaining that their teenage children are rebelling(叛逆). I wish it were so. At your age you ought to be growing away from your parents. You should be learning to stand on your own feet. But take a good look at the present rebellion. It seems that teenagers are taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of striking out boldly on their own, most of them are clutching at one another’s hands for reassurance.
They claim they want to dress as they please. But they all wear the same clothes. Then set off in new directions in music. But somehow they all end up with listening to the same record together. Their reason for thinking or acting in thus-and-such a way is that many people are doing it. They have come out of their cocoon into a larger cocoon.
It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and go his or her own way. Industry has firmly carved out a teenage market. These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be.
And many of today’s parents have come to award high marks for the popularity of their children. All this adds to a great barrier for the teenager who wants to find his or her own path.
But the barrier is worth climbing over. The path is worth following. You may want to listen to classical music instead of going to a party. You may want to collect rocks when everyone else is collecting records. You may have some thoughts that you don’t care to share with your classmates at once, well, go to it. Find yourself. Popularity will come with the people who respect you for who you are. That is the only kind of popularity that really counts.
28. In this passage, the author wants to tell________
A. teenagers how to learn to decide things for themselves
B. readers how to be popular with people around
C. parents how to control and guide their children
D. people how to understand and respect each other
29. According to the author, many teenagers think they are brave enough to act on their own, but in fact, most of them________
A. have much difficulty understanding each other
B. lack confidence
C. dare not cope with problems single-handed
D. are much afraid of getting lost
30. What does the author think of advertisements?
A. Convincing. B. Influential. C. Advanced. D. Amazing.
31. During the teenage years, one should learn to________
A. differ from others in as many ways as possible
B. get into the right reason and become popular
C. rebel against parents and the popularity wave
D. find one’s real self
A 29. C 30. B 31. D

Biscayne is not very far from the lights, noise and excitement of downtown Miami. But it has a very different atmosphere from the big city. Biscayne National Park was established as a national monument in 1968. It became a national park in 1980. That year, its size also increased. The park now covers more than 70, 000 hectares.
If you enjoy water, Biscayne is the park for you. Ninety-five percent of the park is water. Many kinds of animals live in these waters. Some of them are threatened or endangered. You will find the huge, gentle West Indian manatee(海牛),the less gentle American crocodile, several kinds of sea turtles, and more than 500 species of fish.
Scientists say human history at Biscayne begins more than 10, 000 years ago. However, evidence of the area’s earliest people is mostly underwater now, as water levels have risen over time. Within the last 3, 000 years, people began to settle in the area. Scientists continue to learn about these people by examining the big hills of shells they left behind. The shells contain other waste, too, including early tools and housewares.
European explorers began ariving in the area in the early 1500s. They brought with them diseases like smallpox and measles(天花和麻疹). Over time, these diseases killed huge numbers of natives. Early explorers arrived in the area on ships. The reefs and rough waters made it difficult for ship captains. Biscayne’s waters contain more than 50 shipwrecks. Scuba divers today can explore six of them.
Four ecosystems come together here, which is what makes the park so diverse. The blending ecosystems create “edge communities“. These edge communities support a huge amount of wildlife.
The underwater diversity is what attracts most people to Biscayne National Park. Many visitors come here to scuba dive in Biscayne National Park in 1980.
32. What happened to Biscayne National Park in 1980?
A. It covered more than 70, 000 hectares. B. It began to be set up as a national park.
C. It was built as a national monument. D. It became much larger in area.
33. By examining the shells they left behind, scientists can________
A. learn how the earliest people arrived B. learn about the sea animals
C. learn about the life of the earliest people D. know how old the place is
34. What does “edge communities” in Paragraph 5 probably refer to?
A. The place where the natives live. B. The place where Europeans first arrived.
C. The place where people like to scuba dive. D. The place where four ecosystems meet.
35. What attracts tourists most to Biscayne National Park?
A. Its ecosystems. B. Its long history.

根据上文“Kids usually learm good and bad sportsmanship from the adults in their lives. (孩子们通常从他们生活中的成年人那里学到好的和坏的体育精神。)”可知,此段将谈及成年人对身边的孩子们的体育精神的影响,下文“If parents and coaches show disrespect for other fans, referees, or each other, kids will likely act the same way on the field. (如果父母和教练对其他球迷、裁判或彼此表现出不尊重,孩子们在运动场上也可能会表现出同样的行为。)”,此处提到的是孩子们就是父母和教练的一面镜子,反映出了他们的行为;C项“Players’ parents and coaches set examples that kids tend to follow. (运动员的父母和教练为孩子们树立了榜样)”,下文是对C项的进一步详细说明,且其中的parents and coaches也与C项中内容呼应,上下文衔接连贯顺畅。故选C项。
【38题详解】
根据后文“Some of them are very basic and easy to do, like shaking hands with other players before a game. Other examples may take a little more courage, such as acknowledging a great play made by the opposing team. (其中一些是非常基本和容易做的,比如在比赛前和其他球员握手。其他的例子可能需要更多的勇气,比如承认对方球队的出色表现。)”可知,此处列举好的体育精神的表现方式,其中的Some of them,Other examples与A项的in many ways呼应,上下文衔接连贯顺畅。故选A项。
根据前文“Learning good sportsmanship is important because it helps you develop an attitude of graciousness (礼貌) and respect that will carry over into all the other areas of your life. (学习良好的体育精神很重要,因为它可以帮助你培养一种礼貌态度和尊重,这将延续到你生活的所有其他领域。)”可知,良好的体育精神对生活中其他方面也有影响,F项“Being a good sport in the classroom will eventually lead to being a good sport in the workplace. (在课堂上做个有风度的人,最终也会让你在职场中做个有风度的人)”,in the classroom为复现词,F项承接上句,句意衔接连贯顺畅。故选F项。
【40题详解】
上文“So be a good sport in whatever you do! (所以无论做什么都要有风度!)”,下文“When others see you acting in a way that makes it clear that winning isn’t the most important thing, you can move on to focusing on the important things, like having fun, getting exercise, and improving your skills. (当别人看到你的表现就会清楚,获胜不是最重要的事情时,你可以把注意力集中在重要的事情上,比如娱乐、锻炼和提高技能)”可知,好的体育精神会影响到其他人。E项“The example you set can be a powerful teaching tool for others. (你为他人树立的榜样可以成为有力的教学工具。)”,others为复现词,E项与上文为因果关系,因为你体现了良好的体育精神,你就为他人树立了良好的榜样,下文则是对E项的进一步阐述,语意连贯顺畅。故选G项。

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Three years ago, I was offered a better job and went to work in a new clinic of a small hospital in Victor Harbor, an hour away from my house. I rushed there on my first day, driving to the clinic and getting used to the different rules there.
In my worry and anxiety, and feeling a little unfamiliar in the new environment, I removed my three rings according to the rules: my wedding ring, a ring that belonged to my mother and one that was a gift from my husband. I put them in a wrinkled tissue and placed them beside my computer.
During midday break, I ate my lunch at my desk and when I was finished, I hurriedly cleared away the waste, together with the wrinkled tissue into the rubbish bin. I went about my duties and my day went on well. I met new patients and felt that I had done a good job.
Driving home at the end of the day, just moments before I reached my house, I noticed that my rings were missing. I felt the heat in my body rise, my cheeks burning red. I went inside and tried to calm down. I spent an hour or so making telephone calls, trying to locate my rings. The first people I called were my manager and colleagues, and they gave me a few contact numbers for the cleaners. I got in touch with a lady who managed the cleaning services for the clinic, and she told me that the bins had already been emptied and gone to rubbish station.
Heartbroken, I knew nothing could be done then. I had lost my wedding ring and one of my most important rings-my mother’s wedding ring. If I had not been so careless, all this would not have happened. With great sorrow and regret, I just sat there in my chair wondering what I should do.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
After two hours or so, I received the most amazing phone call in my life.

I decided to thank the wonderful person face to face.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After two hours or so, I received the most amazing phone call in my life. The call was from another cleaner called Jerry, who was working at the rubbish station nearby. He told me that he accidentally found the three rings in the tissue when he was sorting the rubbish. So immediately, he called the lady managing the cleaning services for the clinic. The lady told him my story and gave him my phone number. He rang me to relieve my anxiety.
I decided to thank the wonderful person face to face. I ran to my car in a hurry and drove directly to the rubbish station near my clinic, where Jerry was waiting for me. I expressed my greatest thanks to him for his kindness and I did want to give him some money as a gift for his behavior. However, he refused my reward, saying that it was his duty and responsibility to give back the lost things to the owners. Deeply moved, I thanked him again. At last, I got my important rings back.
