It was Jennifer Williams' mother who got her interested in books. As a librarian, Williams' mother read to her three children every day. "From when we hadn't gone to kindergarten, "Williams told vadogwood. com, a local news site, "until we went to college. "
When Williams, who is now 54, became an elementary school teacher and tutor in Danville, Virginia, she wanted her students to be falling in love with reading just as she had. But early on, she realized that some kids had little chance to get enough books to read.
To Williams, the solution was simple ∶ give kids books. In 2017, she donated 900 used children's books over three days. "I wanted to do something that's going to continue my faith, "she said. So she started a new project for herself: give away one million books, It sounds like an unreachable number, but as Williams posted on Facebook: "Don't complain in the stand ifyou aren't willing to work hard out on the field, "
She got to work, first by persuading her friends to donate books or money to buy books, Before long, as news of Williams' project spread, strangers started leaving varieties of books on her front walkway. As quickly as the books came in, Williams gave them to local schools—free of charge—and also supplies 41, 000 books to little free libraries around the city just over the North Carolina border. She also hosted a book club for prisoners in the local prison
In the four years she's been doing all this, The Book Lady, as Williams has come to be celebrated, has given away more than 78, 000 books—only 922, 000 more to reach her goal! And she's not slowing down. "Reading can take you anywhere, "she told CNN. "You can travel in time and space. If you can read, you can learn almost anything. "

Growing up in Czech republic I have played lots of sports. I have never been big girl but certainly always felt like the bigger one in the group. All what I was thinking was I want to be slim. Being considered fit or strong never came to mind.
I tried some aerobic classes but felt totally out of place and gave up. Well how could I when I was spending my days eating mostly junk food and partying over the weekend drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. But most of all, pretty much all my friends did the same back then so need of social proof was stronger than anything.
One day, my then partner took me to his gym. Then, I was totally obsessed 着迷的 with various machines and hoped to sweat the storm 汗流浃背 on exercise bike or treadmill. I thought as long as I sweated a lot then it was a good workout. I had no idea about how to eat for training or fat loss. At that time the biggest enemy was fat so when I thought I need a ”diet” I eliminated a lot of meat and ate lots of salad! I know now that sugar is the issue. When you hooked on sugar, any hard work in the gym is lost in few meals.
My gym exercise worked at the start but one day I realized that I'm not getting results I was hoping for so I decided to do a session with a personal trainer. To my surprise, the trainer made me feel comfortable and results started to show. I really noticed the benefits of resistance 抵抗 training especially going on holidays in the mountains in winter. I was able to snowboard all day without being totally exhausted and sore all over my body.
The more I did better I felt. Now I actually appreciate I can’t just eat whatever I want and it’s easier to say no to junk food like pizza and cakes. I decided to enroll for Personal training course to learn even more and to help, inspire, motivate and educate others to live healthy lifestyle.
My personal fitness journey has grown to loving weights and participating in fun runs every year with my husband and son by my side. I cannot imagine my life without exercise and how it makes me feel every day. It boost 增强 my confidence in almost every aspect of my life.

Imagine one day, the water taps in your house stop running. You have to buy water from shops. And still there isn't enough for everyone. Your mother has to save the family's shower water to do other things. Would you be able to stand that kind of life?
Probably not. But that's what kids in Yemen are experiencing. Experts said Yemen is going to be the first country in the world to run out of water. According to a re- port, the capital, Sana, will run out of
drinking water as early as 2025.
Because of the shortage, the government often cuts the water supply. Hannan, an 18-year-old from Lahej, told Times: "In a good week we'll have a water supply all week. But then the following week there will be water only for a day or two."
Hannan said only rich people have enough water to use. They can buy water from the shops or from the water truck. Private companies own the trucks. They travel around the city every day to sell water at very high prices.
“A lot of people can't afford it, ” she said.
The average person in Yemen uses 100 to 200 cubic meters of water per year. That is far below the international water poverty line of 1,000 cubic meters.
The government is thinking of making use of seawater. But it will cost a lot and it may not happen soon enough to help the people of Yemen.
