一、教材分析
本课是人教版2012年《新目标英语》,七年级上册第8单元第一课时,教材以When is your birthday? 为中心话题。Section A是本单元的重点部分,也是核心教学内容。其中1a--1c学习表示月份的词,学会谈论自己或询问他人的生日。2a—2c重点学习用序数词表达日期,继续谈论自己或他人的生日,这些内容都是与学生日常生活紧密相关的,学生很熟悉也乐于去说。因此,在这第一课时的教学过程中,我将紧密联系学生生活实际,采用以听,说为主,学习重点词语和句型,它将为接下去的课时开展更深入、全面的综合语言运用和知识拓展做好铺垫。
二、学情分析
There are 38 Chinese students in the classroom. They are in Grade seven. They have learned Cardinal Numbers from one to thirty in unit 7. In this lesson, they will learn Ordinal Numbers from the first to the thirty-first, and the twelve months in a year. There are many new words. Most of them are active and interested in English, and they can get involved in some interesting role play. But only a few students are good at oral English. Most students are too shy to open their mouths to express their opinions. Even if sometimes they are brave enough to share their views.
三、教学目标
1. 知识与能力
(1) Function: Talk about when their birthdays are.
(2) Key vocabulary: when , month , January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
(3)Target Language: ---When is your birthday?----My birthday is on…./ It’s on……
----When is Linda’s birthday? ---Her birthday is in May/ on May 2nd.
(4)By the end of the lesson, students will be better able to speak accurately and fluently in the context of asking when their birthdays are.
2. 过程与方法
采用 Classifying, Contrasting, Role—playing 的学习策略,利用教学图片、幻灯片、实物(大挂历)或制作课件(反映月份特征)等来展开课堂教学。
3 .Moral Objects
通过互相询问生日的日期,可以增进同学之间的了解和友情并学会在英语交流中注意他人的情感。
四、教学重点
(1)学会认读12个月及序数词的构成,询问表达自己和他人的生日日期。
(2)在表达日期时介词in 、on的区别。
五、教学难点
理解序数词的构成方法;学会日期的表达方式。
六、教学用具
自制单词卡,挂历,sticker,handout , PPT辅助教学。
七、教学过程
Step 1.Lead in
T: Show a calendar “This is a calendar. It’s November 28th. And my birthday is on December 5th .” When is your birthday?
(设计意图:To lead in the topic about dates)
Step2. Presentation
There are 12 months in a year. Lean the months of the year.
① 看音标学单词。
② 看单词练习发音。
③跟读课本中的十二个月。
④用分组,男女生分读,四人或六人,快速读等不同形式,熟练认读十二个月。
⑤ 给学生2分钟时间记忆单词的音和义。
⑥利用教师自制的单词卡,对学生进行音和义的检测,并将这些抽认卡按正确顺序粘贴在黑板上。
(设计意图:本课的重点是认读12个月,要想让学生熟练地表达出来,我设计了关注单词的音,形,义环节,采用反复循环法,不同的朗读方式练习月份,帮助学生攻克难关,为后面做铺垫。)
Step 3. Presentation ( Ordinal numbers)
①利用板书中的12个月,呈现序数词,第一至第十二.
January is the first month of the year.
February is the second month of the year.
March is the third month of the year.

The fifth month is M________.
The sixth month is J________.
The seventh month is J________.
The eighth month is A_________.
September is the _______ month of the year.

② 基数词和序数词呈现在PPT里,找规律。
③ 顺口溜
基变序,有规律, 词尾加上“th”;
1, 2, 3 特殊记 , 词尾字母“t, d, d”;
八去t来、 九去 e ,
遇到ve, f 替, -ty变为 tie,
若想表示几十几,
只变个位就可以。
④ 听音跟读序数词(on page 44 , 2a)
⑤ 把序数词放在月份后,使学生感知到日期的表达。(黑板上呈现1st, 2nd, 3rd)
(设计意图:序数词是学生第一次接触到,它与基数词在读音和写法上有所不同,通过对比,帮助学生理解序数词的构成方法,为下一步练习核心句型扫除障碍。
Step 4 Practice
教师在黑板上或PPT里展示几组日期,让学生观察并练习。
(设计意图:为了学生能说的准确些,注意表达日期时介词in、on在句中的变化。)
Step 5. Listen to 1b
① 领读功能句型。
② 听音排序,核对答案。
③ 检测:When is Mary’s birthday? (It’s on January 5th.)
(设计意图:通过听的方式输入本课功能句,学习句型,达成知识目标。)
Step 6. Practice
Work in pairs. A: When is your birthday?
B: My birthday is on….. / It’s on January 5th.
(设计意图:给写生口语操练的机会,使他们能正确询问和表达自己的生日。)
Step 7 Group work
Give students a handout. Change their seats in different lines.
Work in groups of 4 . Ask and answer about his or her birthday , then fill in the blanks .

课后反思:
本节课中词汇较多,有十二个月份和序数词的表达,但这些词汇涉及学生的生活实际,我采用抽认卡片,图片,多媒体辅助,突出真实性,便于记忆。同时,在教学中我采用了pair work , game(competition), group work ,多样的活动方式,有利于激发学生的学习兴趣,发挥其主体地位,让他们自己去发现问题、分析问题和解决问题。例如,在呈现序数词时根据学生在黑板上有序粘贴抽认卡后,教授January is the first month of the year. February is the second month of the year. 让学生初步感知第一到第十二,随后给出了基数词和序数词1到30的不同变化,让学生观察,总结,讨论并找出规律。必要时作出解释。其次,通过变化学生的座位,给他们提供了相互学习,相互纠错的机会,他们把学习变成了自己主动、渴望的一种行为。因此本课的教学目标在愉悦的课堂气氛中得到了落实和巩固。
不足之处在于:其一,由于学生较多,设计的竞赛活动进行的有些仓促。其二,对于英语基本功底弱的学生来说,课堂容量有点大,很难完全消化。
