In the last few years. “bike-sharing” companies like oBike, ofo, and Mobike began flooding (挤满) streets in places like China, Japan, Australia, and Singapore with bikes. But I didn’t take long before there were too many companies and too many bikes on the streets. Soon many companies went out of business, leaving behind thousands of unused rental bikes. Many of them were completely new.
Businessman Mike Than Tun Win realized that though these bikes didn’t have any value where they were, they could do a lot of good for schoolchildren in Myanmar. Some children in Myanmar travel an hour or more on foot every day to get to school. Soon. Mr. Than Tun Win had raised around $400, 000 for the LessWalk project. About half of the money was his own, and the other half was given by companies.
The LessWalk project bought thousands of new rental bikes from failed companies and shipped them to Myanmar. Once in Myanmar, the bikes are changed to make them more useful for students. The rental bikes used to require a smartphone app to unlock them. LessWalk changed this for a lock with a key. They also added a second place to sit at the back of the bikes, allowing two children to ride to school on one bike. Recently they’ve added another change—they’re using special tires that don’t go flat to take the place of the bike’s regular tires. With all the changes, Mr. Than says each bike costs Less Walk about $35.
Giving out the bikes takes a little longer, since Less Walk wants to make sure that the bikes go to the students who need them the most. The project is working with Myanmar’s government and schools to focus on poor students who walk close to two hours a day to school.
Though Less Walk only began in March, the project has already brought around 22, 500 bikes into Myanmar and has given out over 1, 000 bikes. Mr. Than Tun Win hopes to bring in as many as 100,000 bikes and expand the program to Laos and Cambodia.
    4. What is the first paragraph mainly used to do?
    A. Attract readers’ attention to the topic. B. Introduce a new topic for discussion.
    C. Use some examples to support the topic. D. Provide background information on the topic.
    5. Why did Mike Than Tun Win set up the LessWalk project?
    A. To make money. B. To help the needy.
    C. To grow his business. D. To spread his green travel idea.
    6. What can we learn about the bikes that the LessWalk project offers?
    A. They are all old shared bikes. B. They allow two people to ride on one bike.
    C. They only allow an hour of use a day. D. They require a smartphone app to unlock them.
    7. Why does giving out the bikes take a little longer?
    A. There aren’t enough bikes for the locals.
    B. The locals show little interest in bikes.
    C. The project has to pick out its users carefully.
    D. The project hasn't yet received the local government’s support.
D 5. B 6. B 7. C
Many of them were completely new.(在过去的几年里。 Businessman Mike Than Tun Win realized that though these bikes didn’t have any value where they were, they could do a lot of good for schoolchildren in Myanmar.(商人Mike Than Tun Win意识到,尽管这些自行车在那里没有任何价值,但它们可以为缅甸的学生们做很多有益的事情)由此可推知,第一段主要用来提供文章的背景信息。

    C
Researcher Ramon Llopis of the University of Valencia is a member of the international group behind Football Research in an Enlarged Europe (FREE), the aim of which is to develop a better understanding of football as a social and cultural phenomenon in Europe. The starting point is the “strong belief that football has important things to say about Europe and its citizens”.
Llopis tells us that the research points to football as “an important presence in the daily lives of many Europeans. Even people who are not particularly interested in the sport cannot avoid the discussions it creates regardless of age, class and region.” He adds that “football is more than an activity which is done for enjoyment. It increases a sense of collective identity
Football is a topic of exchange and conversation between Europeans of different ages and social classes. Based on the surveys carried out in the early stages of the project, 63.3%of people who call themselves football fans have chatted about football with someone from another European country in the past twelve months, 70%of football fans watch matches and summaries from leagues (联赛) outside of their country of origin, and 53.4% habitually follow the results and news from other European leagues on the Internet and social media.
So, rather than consider professional football as an economic activity or a healthy activity for both players and fans, public authorities should be aware of its huge socio-cultural impact. They should also pay attention to the increasing bad feeling surrounding football as a result of its commercialization (商业化), since it is causing many to turn away from the game.
    8. What can we learn about FREE from Paragraph 1?
    A. It studies the impact of football on world culture.
    B. It educates the public about the history of football.
    C. It brings together researchers from several countries.
    D. It is a project carried out by the University of Valencia.
    9. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
    A. The history of football. B. The power of football.
    C. The growth of football. D. The standard of football.
    10. How does the author explain that football is a big part of Europeans' conversation?
    A. By using research findings.
    B. By providing examples
    C. By telling true stories.
    D. By following the order of time.
    11. What’s the author’s attitude to the future of football in Europe?
    A. Hopeful. B. Uncertain. C. Satisfied. D. Worried.
C 9. B 10. A 11. D
根据第一段关键句“Researcher Ramon Llopis of the University of Valencia is a member of the international group behind Football Research in an Enlarged Europe (FREE), the aim of which is to develop a better understanding of football as a social and cultural phenomenon in Europe.”
根据第二段关键句“Llopis tells us that the research points to football as “an important presence in the daily lives of many Europeans.” 再根据第二段关键句“He adds that “football is more than an activity which is done for enjoyment. It increases a sense of collective identity
第三段关键句“Based on the surveys carried out in the early stages of the project”意为“基于项目早期阶段进行的调查”,再根据第三段中列举的调查数据63.3%of people(63.3%的人),70%of football fans(70%的足球迷)和53.4% habitually follow the results(53.4%的人习惯性的关注比赛结果和新闻)可知,作者通过利用研究成果来解释足球是欧洲人对话中的重要的部分。故选A项。
根据最后一段关键句“They should also pay attention to the increasing bad feeling surrounding football as a result of its commercialization (商业化), since it is causing many to turn away from the game.”
    D
Head injuries typically come from trauma (创伤) caused by hard or sharp objects. The skull does not have to be broken, but can be. If the skull is soft when touched, or missing, the victim is likely to have an open or depressed skull fracture (骨折). If a skull fracture is suspected, call 911 immediately.
A closed head injury is an injury to the brain inside an undamaged skull. Injury to the brain causes swelling, which quickly increases the pressure within the skull. The increased pressure causes more damage to the brain, which causes more swelling, and so on.
Some types of closed head injury stop the cycle automatically while others will continue to get worse until the victim dies. The only way to tell the difference is through a CT scan, which looks at the brain and the skull using X-rays.
In all cases of injury to the head and neck, it’s vital not to move the victim at will. Support his or her head in the position you found it. Backbones can be injured from movement of the head during trauma. Broken or displaced backbones can cut or put pressure on the nerves of the spinal cord, causing temporary or permanent inability to move and loss of feeling.
Vomiting (呕吐) can lead to problems with the victim's airway. If the victim begins vomiting and is unconscious, place the victim in the recovery position to let the vomit flow from the victim’s mouth.
It is a misunderstanding that head injury victims should be kept awake. If a victim of trauma to the head does not have any of the signs or symptoms (症状) of a closed head injury or skull fracture, there is no reason to keep him or her awake. Once asleep, wake the victim up about 30 minutes later to make sure he or she can be aroused. If you are unable to wake him or her up. Call 911 immediately.
    12. What should we do when seeing a victim with a damaged skull?
    A. Call an ambulance right away.
    B. Cover him or her with a blanket first.
    C. Place him or her in a cool place as soon as possible.
    D. Put him or her in the recovery position immediately.
    13. What can we infer about closed head injury from the text?
    A. It will cause a drop in the pressure within the skull.
    B. It is often accompanied by an open skull fracture.
    C. It will make the brain swell worse and worse.
    D. It can be of different types.
    14. According to the author, moving the victims with head injuries at will can__________.
    A. cause them to vomit. B. do further injuries to them.
    C. put great pressure on their skulls D. lead to their permanent loss of memory
    15. What does the last paragraph imply?
    A. Not all the head-injured people need to stay awake.
    B. Not all the vomiting stops naturally 30 minutes later.
    C. Not all the victims of trauma to the head will be sleepy.
    D. Not all the symptoms of closed head injury are noticeable
A 13. D 14. B 15. A
If a skull fracture is suspected, call 911 immediately. 故选A。
Some types of closed head injury stop the cycle automatically, while others will continue to get worse until the victim dies.
故选A。

I do hope you'll get a meaningful experience here. And do not hesitate to ask us for help if you have any questions or needs.
    That’s all. Thank you!

    4. And you’ll have the chance to attend a lecture.
    5. I do hope you'll get a meaningful experience here.

It's my honour to be here to say something about this event. It's my honour to be here to say something about this event whose theme is Chinese traditional culture.
It's my honour to be here to say something about this event whose theme is Chinese traditional culture,这句话为whose引导的定语从句;其次,使用了一些固定句型,如:It's one’s honour to do sth; learn to do sth; hesitate to do sth.等,使语言更加丰富;同时使用了一些高级词汇及短语,如such as; meaningful; under the direction of sb.
After leaving college, Lisa entered a company and began to work there. The work wasn’t very tiring. Though the pay wasn’t very high, Lisa loved working there. Sadly, about ten years later, a devastating (毁灭性打击) blow came to her company, and over a two-year period the business dropped out of site. Lisa lost her job as a result.
At that time, Lisa had already got married and had a five-year-old son. And her husband David, didn’t make enough money to support the whole family. Lisa began to feel guilty that she wasn’t contributing any kind of income after losing her job. But she had faith that everything would be okay.
Lisa began to hunt for a job. However, finding work was difficult for her as she didn’t hold an important position in her former company. It felt as though she would never be called for a job interview.
One day, Lisa came across her former colleague Jenny. They greeted each other and then began to talk. Through talking with her, Lisa found that Jenny had already found work in a large company.
Lisa wasn’t very surprised. She knew Jenny had been learning new languages after work. As far as she knew, Jenny could speak French, Spanish and Italian. Besides learning new languages, Jenny also spent much time improving other skills. When once advised doing that too, Lisa said she didn't have to. She didn’t think that she'd lose her job one day.
They didn’t talk for long as Jenny was going to meet a client.
“Goodbye, Lisa. I wish you good luck,” with these words, Jenny left.
Lisa watched Jenny walk away. She looked so confident. Lisa really regretted not learning anything new after work.
“If I have learned new things as Jenny, I must have already found new work,” said Lisa to herself.
That day after coming back home, Lisa talked with her husband. She told him about Jenny's new work.
“Honey, why not follow Jenny's example? It’s never too late to learn something new. So why not start now?” said her husband.
“You’re totally right, honey,” said Lisa.
    Paragraph 1:
That night, Lisa thought about what she should do next.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Paragraph 2:
Besides learning French, Lisa also tried to improve her computer skills.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 1:
That night, Lisa thought about what she should do next. Since It was difficult to find a good full-time job, she decided to find a part-time job first. Lucky for her, a French couple in her neighborhood were looking for someone to look after their one-year-old son. Lisa applied for the job and she got it. She knew it was a good opportunity for her to learn French. So she began to learn this language and tried her best to speak French with the couple.
    Paragraph 2:
Besides learning French, Lisa also tried to improve her computer skills. About one year later, she tried hunting for a job again. She sent out applications and a few days later, she got replies, asking her to have job interviews. Finally, Lisa got a job she truly wanted. Though Lisa had managed to find a job, she knew she shouldn't stop learning new things. She would keep learning so that she would find new work easily if she lost her job again. That was an important lesson she had learned from Jenny.
如:apply for, try one’s best to do sth., manage to do sth. Since It was difficult to find a good full-time job, she decided to find a part-time job first. Though Lisa had managed to find a job, she knew she shouldn't stop learning new things.,使文章表达更加地道。
