A newly married woman called Grace lost her wallet at Gilleece's bar with her wedding ring inside. Gilleece looked through the camera videos, watching the woman's every step in the bar until she went outside to sit on a bench and left when her ride arrived. Then a young man approached the bench and put something in his pocket. Gilleece posted several pictures on the bar's Facebook page, asking if anybody knew the guy.
Within hours, Gilleece got a text from 17-year-old Prather. Prather admitted having taken the wallet because he hadn't eaten in two days. He said he saw the ring but just took the money and threw the wallet off the public docks into the ocean.
Gilleece, unsure whether he believed Prather, told the teen to meet him at the bar. There, Prather said that, not getting along with his family, he had been living in the woods for a week. Gilleece saw him as a kid rather than a criminal. But the police were already on the case, and because of the missing ring, Prather could face prison. Gilleece planned to employ two divers to search for it. Meanwhile, the police wanted Gilleece to bring the teen to the station. He called them and said, "He's going to be at the docks with me tomorrow.,"

One of the easiest ways to stop the spread of disease is to simply wash your hands. Twenty seconds of handwashing with soap and water can reduce illnesses and save lives. But, many people, especially children, do not have good handwashing habits. One problem is that children do not wash their hands often enough or long enough. Children may think that it is a tiresome thing to do.
To help handle this problem, two businesswomen from India created a product to turn handwashing into a fun activity. Amanat Anand and Shubham Issar created a tool called SoaPen, aimed at teaching kids good handwashing habits and encouraging kids to wash their hands with soap appropriately and regularly.
“It’s such a simple habit to do, but the fact is that people aren't doing it, and it's resulting in actual deaths---which is shocking・ So, we decided to come up with a fun method, said Issar.
As the name suggests, SoaPen is a pen made out of soap. The children draw on their hands with the soap pen and then wash the drawing off. If they don't spend enough time washing it off, the colors remain on the children's hands. Issar said it makes sure that children take enough time to wash their hands. This may be especially helpful in a classroom. Often a teacher does not have the time to make each child wash his hands properly.
Kids actually wash their hands for the proper amount of time because they're drawing on their hands. To obliterate the drawing, they actually wash their hands instead of just going under water and, you know, a one-second wash and off.
Good news is that the school children in Mumbai, India, will soon most likely wash their hands after handling a pet. Issar and Anand stated that SoaPen to be created everywhere will help promote good habits through handwashing in the city across the globe.
28. Why is SoaPen invented?
A. To teach kids the importance of handwashing.
B. To make money from children consumers.
C. To help kids wash their hands correctly.
D. To rid kids of some kinds of diseases.
29. Which statement will Issar probably agree with?
A. SoaPen is designed for classrooms.
B. Handwashing is anything but little.
C. Some teachers ignore kids' health in school.
D. Kids don't know the right way of handwashing.
30. What does "obliterate" underlined in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Remove. B. Reserve. C. Learn. D. Show.
31. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. SoaPen has become popular worldwide.
B. Kids' health should be paid more attention to.
C. SoaPen has been applied in Mumbai schools.
D. The inventors think SoaPen has a bright future.

One of the most recognizable symbols of Scotland is the kilt(百褶裙).Resembling knee-length skirts, kilts originated in the 16th century as a common form of clothing for men and boys living in an area of northern Scotland known as the Scottish Highlands. A special feature of kilts, even to this day, is the plaid(格子呢)patterns. These patterns were historically related to specific clans, which are family groups that share a relationship through ancestry or some other connections. Known as tai伽s(方格花纹),the plaid patterns are of various colors. Because of their popularity in the Scottish Highlands, the wearing of kilts and any tartan pattern in general was banned from 1746 to 1782 to try to control clans from that region that were opposed to the king at the time. After clans were no longer considered a threat to the king, the clothing ban was removed.
Although the removal of the ban meant people could once again wear kilts with their clan's tartan, they did not become the regular dress of males there. Instead, they came to represent a traditional form of clothing, and be symbolic of national pride. Tartans of all types can be seen on show all over the world on April 6, Tartan Day, when people of Scottish ancestry celebrate their cultural treasure. Tartan Day originated in Canada in the mid-1980s. It spread to other communities of the Scottish diaspora in the 1990s.
Nowadays, tartans have been specifically created for individuals, families, institutions, and companies. Perhaps the best-known example of a tartan used by a company is that of the British company Burberry. Burberry has used tartans on a variety of products, including scarves, handbags, clothing, and other accessories. Although in 2019, Burberry announced it would reduce the number of products it produced to focus more on handbags as a way to increase profits, their iconic tartan continues to be a symbol of high fashion.
32. In which aspect are kilts special?
A. People show respect for the king by wearing them.
B. They are of the same color in Scotland.
C. Plaid patterns are used in the kilts.
D. They are designed for adult men.
33. Why do Scottish people exhibit different tartans in April?
A. To celebrate a tradition.
B. To spread this culture to the world.
C. To honor the end of the ban on tartans.
D. To express tartans shouldn't be ignored.
34. Why does the author mention the company Burberry?
A. To prove the popularity of tartans.
B. To stress tartans' wide range of daily uses.
C. To show the reduced number of tartan products.
D. To explain reasons for Burberry's favoring tartans.
35. What is the best title for this passage?

Bobby was getting cold sitting out in his backyard in the snow. Bobby didn't wear boots; or rather, he didn't own any. The thin sneakers he wore had a few holes in them and they did a poor job of keeping out the cold.
Bobby had been in his backyard for about an hour already. Try as he might, he could not come up with an idea for his mother's Christmas gift. He shook his head as he thought, “This is useless. Even if I do come up with an idea, I don't have any money for a gift;
Wiping tears from his eyes, Bobby started walking down to the street where the shops were. It wasn't easy being six without a father, especially when he needed a man to talk to.
Bobby walked from shop to shop, looking into each decorated window. Everything seemed so beautiful but so out of reach. It was starting to get dark and Bobby reluctantly turned to walk home when suddenly his eyes caught the glimmer(微光)of the setting surfs rays reflecting on something on the roadside. He reached down and discovered a shiny dime(() (一角硬币).
Never before has anyone felt as wealthy as Bobby did at that moment. As he held his newly- found treasure, warmth spread throughout his entire body and he walked into the first store. His excitement quickly turned cold when salesperson after salesperson told him that he could not buy anything with only a dime.
He saw a flower shop and went inside to wait in line. When the shop owner asked if he could help him, Bobby presented the dime and asked if he could buy one flower for his mother's Christmas gift. The shop owner looked at Bobby and his ten — cent offering. Then he put his hand on Bobby's shoulder, saying, "You just wait here and I'll see what I can do for you."
The sound of the door closing as the last customer left pulled Bobby back to reality. All alone in the shop, Bobby began to feel alone and afraid.
