Shared self-study rooms in shared space have become more and more popular among students and office workers in China in recent years. So far, there have been over 200 shared, self-study rooms in Chengdu.
Equipped (配备) with eye-caring lights, comfortable tables and chairs, and different kinds of school things, these shared self-study rooms also provide tea, snacks and free WIFI.
Customers of shared self-study rooms can pay around 50 yuan to 100 yuan per day for a quiet and friendly learning environment. Users can also buy a wide range (范围) of pack, such as a monthly or yearly pass, depending on their personal needs. But the wider range of pack they buy, the less money they will spend.
There are some reasons for the popularity of shared study rooms in China. First, with a better learning environment, the shared self-study rooms that provide comfortable chairs and lighting can make the students study more efficiently (有效率的). Also, some students used to get a seat at the study rooms of colleges or public libraries. However, many colleges and public libraries remain closed to the public because of the COVID-19. Another reason is people's needs for private space. A research show that 43.2 percent of users of shared study rooms mainly pay for a private study environment.
    21. Shared self-study rooms provide not only the comfortable learning environment but also the good services for the users.
    22. Customers can save the most if they buy a monthly pass of the shared self-study rooms.
    23. Shared study rooms can be a good choice for the students who have difficulty paying attention to learning.
    24. More than half of the users choose shared study rooms for private study environment according to the research in the passage.
    25. There are three reasons mentioned in this passage to explain why shared self-study rooms are popular in China.

The Belgian-British teenager landed in Belgium on Jan 20. “It's just really crazy,” she told the news reporter.

In many people’s eyes, plants are quiet and passive (被动). They can’t talk. They can’t walk. And they can’t think like us.
Or can they? A new BBC documentary series, The Green Planet (《绿色星球》), gives us a new look at planta. Released on 51 (一月) 10th on Bilibili, it uncovers the wonderful and dramatic (戏剧性的) ways that plants 52 (behave). “The Green Planet reveals (揭示) the secret 53 (life) of plants in the same way The Blue Planet (《蓝色星球》) opened our eyes to the oceans,” editor Elle Hunt wrote in New Scientist.
Plants compete against each other to live. In the rainforests, different kinds of plants race 54 sunlight. The forest floor is described as a “battlefield” in the series as only two 55 (百分之) of the sunlight filters (透过) through it. Some plants spread their big leaves to reach light. But they are 56 (catch) up in a vine (藤本植物) that tries to hitch a ride (搭便车). Finally, they are both overtaken by a fast-growing balsa (轻木) tree. As the balsa has slippery (光滑的) hairs on its leaves, the vine can’t get a hold. Similarly, some trees make poisonous sap (毒汁) to protect 57 (they).
Plants also help each other and even communicate. In deserts, the roots of Euphrates poplar (胡杨) are connected. If a tree finds water, it will share it with others through the roots. Studies also show that plants use fungus (真菌) in the soil as a way to “talk” to each other. t's kind of like 58 Wi-Fi works. If a tomato plant gets a leaf disease, it can tell nearby plants about it.
The Green Planet not only lets us marvel (惊叹) at the plant world 59 pushes us to understand that plants are important. “Plants are the basis of all life, including ourselves. We depend upon them for every mouth of food that we eat and every lungful of air (一口气) that we breathe,” said David Attenborough, presenter of the series. It’s time to look after wild plants just as 60 (care) as our houseplants.

A man in black clothes jumps high into the air. Before he lands, he strikes (摆出) a pose. Sometimes, he carries a red fan (扇子). With long white sleeves (袖子), he spreads his arms like wings. His dance is eye-catching, often attracting crowds.
He is Chinese dancer Ma Jiaolong. Since 2020, he's made short videos of himself dancing in London. He has performed at the city’s parks and iconic landmarks (标志性建筑物) like Tower Bridge. The 35-year-old has nearly 5 million followers on Douyin, where he shares his videos.
Classical Chinese dance combines martial arts movements (动作) with those of traditional Chinese opera. He started to learn it at 12. “I was attracted by the dancers who play ancient heroes through the movements of classical Chinese dance,” said Ma.
Later, Ma studied at the Beijing Dance Academy. Since 2019, he has been teaching classical Chinese dance at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Two years ago, Ma had to give online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his small home, he could only make small moves. One day, he took his wife's suggestion and danced at Greenwich Park, a popular tourist spot. She recorded Ma. He then edited (剪辑) the video, added music and sent it to friends. “Surprisingly, they loved it, which inspired me to share it online,” said Ma.
Later, Ma made more short videos. He combines his dance moves with dazzling (令人赞叹的) action. Strangers are often curious about his performances. So, while dancing, he likes to interact with them. As his videos went viral (走红), he received messages from people around the world.
“Now, making and sharing short videos has become a part of my life, and, most importantly, a great way to introduce classical Chinese dance to more people, especially overseas viewers,” said Ma.

In recent times, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted (破坏) the age-old habit of shaking hands. ①It is most widely used as a greeting, but when did shaking hands become the standard greeting?
The handshake dates all the way back to the 9th century BC (公元前). King Shalmanesar III ruled over Assyria, an empire (帝国) of the ancient Middle East. Archaeologists (考古学家) found a throne base from that time. It shows two people holding hands. In the 5th century BC, this was a symbol of peace, showing that neither person carried a weapon (武器). The handshake also makes an appearance in Homer’s (荷马的) ancient poem, the Iliad. In it, two characters shook each other’s hands.
However, these handshakes were not used as greetings. The earliest reference (谈及,提到) to a handshake greeting is in the 16th century novels by French writer Francois Rabelais, says Dutch sociologist Herman Roodenburg.
Even so, the most widely-accepted idea about the handshake is that it came from a group called the Quakers, who were committed (致力于) to equality and peace. As the movement spread, so did the handshake, eventually becoming a standard among the working class in the mid-1700s.
However, this was not the case everywhere, according to Roodenburg. Some French people described it as a vulgar (平民) English greeting, so many kept “labise”, the traditional peck (轻吻) on two cheeks. Because of the COVID-19, in many countries, people have started touching elbows to greet each other instead of shaking hands, as this is believed to be safer.
