Step 1 Grammar Focus Ask the students to study and read the following key sentences: It’s nice to meet you. It must be a lot of fun to be a journalist.[ It may seem hard to do these at first. If you hope to make friends with others, you should keep a smiling face. Remember to be a good talker as well as a good listener. You may feel you don’t know what to say when you first meet people. Don’t pretend to be friendly. Step 2 Work in pairs: Ask the students to discuss with their partner their experiences and ideas about initiating a conversation, then complete the sentences below.
Step 3 Practice: Role-play activity: Ask the students to role-play the following situations by using the sentences structures. Situation 1: Kelly and Frank are in the same class club. They meet for the first time. Situation 2: Zhang Fang and Mike are classmates. They meet the first time after a long vacation.
Step 4 : Homework

Study and read the following key sentences, learn how to use infinitives to express our thoughts.
Work in pairs and try to complete the sentences by using the key structures. Then check and share with the whole class.
Students role-play the situations alone. Then check and share the conversations with the whole class.
