What if we lived n the mn?
Wuldn't it be cl t be able t live, vacatin and wrk n the mn? Let's say we d want t clnize the mn. But there are sme basic needs that the mn clnists wuld have t take care f: breathable air, water, pwer and fd. Obtaining breathable air, in the frm f xygen, is fairly easy n the mn. The sil n the mn cntains xygen, which can be harvested using heat and electricity.
Water is trickier. There’s nw sme evidence that there may be water, in the frm f buried ice that has cllected at the suth ple f the mn. If s, water mining might be pssible.If water isn't available n the mn, it must be imprted frm Earth. One way t d that wuld be t ship liquid hydrgen frm the earth t the mn, and then react it with xygen frm the mn's sil t create water. As a side-benefit, the hydrgen can react with xygen in a fuel cell t create electricity as it creates water.
Pwer n the mn is an interesting challenge. It wuld prbably be pssible t manufacture slar cells n the mn, but sunlight is available nly part f the time. As mentined previusly, hydrgen and xygen can react in a fuel cell t create electricity. Nuclear pwer is anther pssibility, using uranium mined n the mn.
Fd is als a prblem. The first thught that anyne n Earth wuld have is, “Grw the fd n the mn” using chemicals like carbn, nitrgen xygen, hydrgen, ptassium, phsphrus, and s n. T grw a tn f wheat, yu'll have t imprt all the chemicals nt readily available n the mn. Once the first crp is in, and as lng as the clny's ppulatin is stable, then the chemicals can be reused in a natural cycle. The plant grws, a persn eats it, and the persn excretes it as slid waste, liquid waste and carbn dixide in the breath. These waste prducts then nurish the next batch f plants.
