    This morning our class organized an environmental protection activity in the nearby Huishi Park. On arriving there, we were divided into three groups. The first group collected the rubbish, such as the waste paper, cigarette ends, plastic bags and so on. The second group set up several boards to remind the visitors to take care of the flowers and trees. The last group gave a speech to the visitors on the danger of “white pollution” and the importance of protecting the environment.
    I think it is very important for us to protect the environment. For the sake of people’s health and happiness, measures should be taken to control and prevent pollution and everyone should make a contribution to it.

                                    A Volunteering Activity
    Mar. 5th is Lei Feng Day. Our school organized volunteers to clean the street. In the morning, all the volunteers gathered at the school gate and the chairman of the Students’ Union allocated the tasks. Then we went to the main street of our town. Some cleaned up the trash and others removed the small advertisements on the walls on either side of the street, and a few others gave out leaflets to the passers-by and shopkeepers to warn them to protect the clean environment.     I think an admirable reform pioneer should not only make great achievements himself, but also make an impact on the lives of others and even make contributions to the whole mankind. Tu Youyou is such a person who I admire most.
    Tu Youyou was admitted into Beijing University in 1951, majoring in making medicine. After graduation, she has been working in China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1972, she succeeded in discovering and developing artemisinin out of a Chinese herb to cure those patients of malaria across the globe, for which she won many big awards. To our excitement and delight, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine on October 5th, 2015, becoming the first Chinese woman to win the Nobel Prize. Although she has gained such great achievements, Tu remains modest and prudent. We should learn from her and devote ourselves to scientific research.

                                    A Meaningful Cleanup
    In order to encourage us students to participate in volunteer activities and prevent virus spreading, our class organized a meaningful cleanup in a nearby community last Sunday morning.
    We gathered on the playground and then we walked in a line to the community. Under the guidance of our teachers, we were divided into two groups. Students in Group One did some cleaning, like sweeping floors and mopping stairs. Meanwhile, students in Group Two disinfected the buildings. With everyone’s efforts, we finished the task successfully.
    I’ve benefited a lot from the activity. It makes me learn teamwork and I’ve realized community health is crucial and that I can also do something worthwhile for our community.
