主题:面对突如其来的洪水,如何自救?
Being caught in a flood is very dangerous since floods might come without any warning. Sudden floods move quickly and have strong currents(水流).
Of course, drowning (溺水) is the biggest danger during a flood because there is so much water and it's moving quickly. Besides, anything in the current can hurt people. What's more, floods can cause other problems, such as power cut, communication and traffic problems. Most importantly, it may not be possible to send necessary things such as water and food to the area.
So what should we do to save ourselves? Here are some advice.
1.Keep away from flood water
Never walk, swim or drive through floodwaters. One foot of flood water can sweep cars away.
2.Listen to radios in time
Listen to radios in time for the next move. If told to evacuate(撤 离),do so.
3.Move to the highest floor
If kept within a flooding building, move to the highest floor. Do not go into the current, ask for help by using signs (such as drawing SOS on the roof).
4.Avoid power lines
Avoid power lines, as they often fell down during flooding. A fallen power line is a great risk to people, because they might get an electric shock.
5.Do not drink flood water
Do not drink flood water, or use it to wash dishes, brush teeth, or wash food. Drink clean, safe water

主题:音乐水平不由种族决定
Many of the Asian musical artists have had to fight discrimination (歧视) against Asians in a classical music world long controlled by Westerners.
Most recently in June, famous violinist Pinchas Zuckerman apologized after reports that he told a pair of students from Asia that their playing was too perfect and they needed to add some soy sauce (酱油). “The words I used were culturally insensitive (缺乏文化意识),”the talented performer later explained.
South Korean-American violinist Jennifer Koh knows the pain. In 2008, Koh realized that some Europeans expressed surprise that performers from Asia can play what they regard as “their music.” “That attitude is not just among the United States,” she said. “Sometimes I think it's believed all over the world. It seems that German musicians just know how to play a classical music better than someone from a different background. It's a kind of discrimination.”
Asked in an interview about difficulties faced by Asian artists in classical music, Chinese bass (男低音) Peixin Chen replied, “Opera singing or any kind of performing career is hard, especially for Asians. I just want to say, 'Work hard, be positive and good luck!””
For Asians and classical musicians from Asia, careers have always been filled with difficulties. But just as Koh said,“ The world is divided between great musicians and terrible musicians, not by race (种族). It has nothing to do with where you were born. It's just a matter of whether you are great or terrible at music.”

主题:大卫·温斯顿出售终身收藏
David Winston's whole collection of 26 valuable pianos is now being sold off at auction (拍 卖).Some individual instruments could go for up to 60,000 pounds ($83,000) each. “I'm nearly 71 now, it's time to sell,” said Winston, who was trained as a violin maker at first before collecting pianos.
Winston shows his collection of pianos from the 18th to 20th century. Chinese pianist Shang Xiaowen, a musical student, plays a Schubert sonata to test a piano made by Winston. “Compared to the modern piano... it is more gentle (温和的) and has a very sensitive(艺术感觉好的)sound,”says Shang, calling this piano her favorite.
She says she also enjoys playing the French Pleyel Duoclave: a piano with keyboards(琴键)at either end, allowing pianists to sit face-to-face with the sound rising up between them. “They're really rare (稀有的):They only made about 50 of them,”says Winston. This piano belonged to Madeleine Lioux, a famous French concert pianist.
The collection does not just focus on ancient instruments (乐器) but includes instruments designed for the 20th century lifestyles. Winston asks Shang to play a sheet music (乐谱) to “The Way We Were” on a piano with a sparkly silver frame(闪闪发光的 银铝框架). “This is from the 1960s. It's really stable(稳定的) and it sounds quite good,” he says of the piano made by a Dutch company.
Buyers could be “having a collection of rare instruments" or “just looking for something really unusual,” Winston says. Auction house is organizing the online sale from September 1.

河北王陵之谜
In the spring of 1968 on Lingshan Mountain in Hebei Province, a deep, dark cave was discovered. It was found that the cave was an ancient tomb. Who was buried there and how long ago?
Experts confirmed the mystery king was Liu Sheng, a king of an old kingdom named Zhongshan during the Han Dynasty(202 BC-220 AD).
Under the debris (碎片) of the coffin (棺材), experts discovered an unusual artifact(古器物)that surprised the whole world - a whole jade suit sewn (缝) with gold threads. It's the first time such a jade suit had been unearthed. The 1.88-meter-long suit was linked by gold threads with more than 2,000 jade chips, shaped like a man with a head, body, limbs (四肢)and shoes.
According to the law of the Han, there were strict rules for different ranks' use of threads on burial jade clothes-gold threads for an emperor, silver for vassal kings (诸侯王) and copper (铜)for an emperor's sisters. Although Liu was only a vassal king, he lived during the early Han period when the law was less strict.
After months of digging, more than 10,000 artifacts were found. The jade-gold suit(金缕玉衣),a bronze palace lantern (青铜宫灯) and a mountain-shaped incense burner(山形香炉)were said to be the three most beautiful discoveries.
