J.K. Rowling is the writer of Harry Potter(哈利波特). She was born in July, 1965. She has one sister who is two years younger than her. Both girls loved listening to stories. They loved stories about Magical(魔法的)worlds. Rowling wrote her first story, Rabbit, at the age of six.

   After she graduated from the university, Rowling worked in London. During a long train trip in the summer of 1990, the idea of a boy who has magic came to her mind. In 1992 Rowling began to teach English. She lived with her baby daughter, Jessica, and spent much time finishing the first Harry Potter book for young readers. It appeared in June 1997. To her surprise, the book was greatly successful. The film came out in November 2001. Now Harry Potter series is popular with people of all ages and about 60 million books were sold in 200 countries,

   Why has the series been so successful? Many other magical stories happened in far away lands or in past or future time. But Harry lives in modern England. He’s also a very normal boy: polite, friendly, brave and clever. So when children read about Harry, they can imagine they are the same as him.

  J.K. Rowling is now busy finishing the whole series of seven books. She’s writing full time and she’s really enjoying life.

Thanks to the Internet, the world’s becoming smaller and smaller. It is possible for you to work at home with a computer in front, getting and sending the information you need. If you go into the forest with friends, stay with them. If you don’t, you may get lost. If you get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends- let them find you. You can help them find you by staying in one place. There is another way to help your friends or other people to find you. You can shout or whistle(吹口哨) three times. Stop. Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal given three times is a call for help. Keep up shouting or whistling. Always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making a noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.

If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house with branches (树枝). Make yourself a bed with leaves and grass.

When you need some water, you have to leave your little branch house to look for it. Don’t just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop them as you walk in order to go back again easily. When you are lost, the most important thing to do is to stay in one place.
