Flying electric taxis
Long seen as something of a fantasy, flying taxis are getting serious. Several firms around the world will step up test flights in 2022 with the aim of getting their aircraft certified for commercial use in the following year or two. What do ten dollars, a garden, and Elon Musk's brother have in common? They're used to fight against food insecurity and build the world's only biggest gardener community. Launched on the autumn equinox(秋分), the Million Gardens Movement(MGM)is a charitable and educational plan that hopes to put a garden in every family.
Kimbal Musk, Elon Musk's brother and the Executive Director of the non-profit Big Green, hoped that the MGM puts Little Green Garden units in homes and classrooms for just $ 10. He explains that each garden has its special growing plan and online lessons and activities to support the growth of culture-related vegetable gardens at home.
The MGM platform is simple as a whole. If you're a gardener, sign up to join the community. Donate $ 10 to a family that can't afford a, garden, or that lives in a food desert, read and contribute to the blog and then tell other gardeners about it.
"Ten years ago, I co-founded Big Green focusing on under-resourced communities to increase access to fresh food," says Musk. The Million Gardens Movement is put forward to make it simple for anyone to give a family a garden. Planting a seed is an act of hope for a brighter tomorrow. We hope millions of people will join us to grow their own gardens and give a garden to a family."
They've been able to deliver garden kits to Denver, Detroit, Memphis and Indianapolis so far. "We hope to expand to Canada this year with sights on Vancouver and Toronto," adds Musk. Many of the world's largest consumer product companies, including Coca-Cola, Unilever and PepsiCo, have set ambitious targets for replacing original plastics with recycled ones-typically 25% of their total packaging by 2025. So far, however, most companies have made modest progress and will need to accelerate their efforts to reach these high goals, according to a new cover story in Chemical & Engineering News, an independent news outlet of the American Chemical Society.
In the U. S., only about 10% of plastics are recycled into new products, compared with nearly 33%in Europe, writes senior editor Alex Tullo. Facing increasing consumer pressure, many companies have made big promises to increase the amount of recycled plastics they use in packaging to 25%-50% by 2025 or 2030. However, most currently hover at a recycling rate between 2% and 12%, meaning that they will need to greatly speed up their efforts in order to succeed. Meeting these goals will require new technologies to help make plastics easier to recycle, as well as widespread collaboration and investment among brand owners, consumers, recycling facilities, chemical companies and others.
In traditional mechanical recycling, facilities sort through consumers' recyclables collected by local trash porters, separating plastics from metal, glass and other materials. To ease this dull process, AMP Robotics has developed a machine with learning-based technology that identifies different types of plastics and pulls unwanted materials off the line with an inflated(充气的)arm. Next, the separated plastics are cut, washed, melted and reshaped. Then, plastics intended for food packaging undergo additional finishing steps.
Although recycling firms have developed new technologies, such as solvent extraction(溶剂萃取), to recycle different types of plastic more efficiently, consumer product companies must redesign their packaging, for example, by removing various plastics and metalized layers, to make them easier to recycle. Also, experts say that consumers need to do their part by putting more of their used plastics into recycling bins.

Last Sunday, I visited to a forest park of our city with my friend Tom. It took us about twenty minutes to ride there. Upon arriving, we took a picture at the gate of a park first.
