    at the top of ... 在……的顶部    There is a tower at the top of the hill.

    at the bottom of ... 在……的底部

 2) world-famous    adj.  世界著名的，举世闻名的  

   e.g. 姚明是世界著名的篮球运动员。

    Yao Ming is a world-famous basketball player.

  3) at the southern end of... 在……的南端

south (n.) + ern = southern（adj.）

以此类推：north+ern=northern    west+ern=western    east+ern=eastern

     in the south of...= in the southern part of...

at the end of... 在……的尽头，末尾；         in the end = at last = finally 最后

e.g. 这个月末 at the end of this month         在路的尽头at the end of the road

further on 更进一步，再向前

    far变形: far---farther---farthest (指距离far---further---furthest (指距离或程度)

e.g. 深造  further study  进一步的信息 further information 深入讨论 further discussion

(2) gather vi. 聚集

e.g. 以前，所有的家庭成员欢聚一堂，共庆春节。

 In the past, all the family members gathered together to celebrate the Spring Festival.

see/watch/notice/hear sb. + do 表示动作的完整、做了某事

see/watch/notice/hear sb. + doing 表示动作的连续、进行  

e.g. 1. 我刚才看见很多孩子正在操场上打篮球。

 I ______ many children _________ basketball on the playground just now.

7. It’s a good place to relax after a hard day’s work.

relax vi. 放松 relaxes-relaxed-relaxing       

eg. Your body ________ (relax) when you laugh.                

relaxed adj. 放松的        Listening to music can make me feel relaxed.

hard 的用法：     

The ground is as hard as stones.     It’s very hard to work out this maths problem. 

You must work hard to catch up.     The wind is blowing hard outside. 

adj.“硬的”“困难的，艰难的”     adv.“努力地”“强烈地”
