Teaching objective:
- Pupils can understand the story and describe the hen’s work.
- Preliminarily introduce some reading skills to the pupils like skimming, scanning, etc.
- Pupils are able to find out the verbs on and put them in the correct orders.
Important and difficult points:
1. Knowing about the reading skills.
2. Pupils can master the reading methods.
3. Pupils can talk about the work of the hen.
Teaching aids: CAI, PPT, PICTURES
Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Leading in-Free talk:
T shows a picture of the farm and have a brainstorm with the pupils: What kind of animals can you see on the farm?
T uses the airplay mirroring with the app “mind-map” to show the students’ answers.
Step 2 Presentation
Pre-reading
T asks some questions about the story:
T points to the cover of the book: What’s the story about? Who is the writer and how is the hen? How can you know? Teachers use the questions to guide the pupils to get some information from the cover and the title.
While-reading
T: This is a story about the hen and her busy work. In the story, there are many friends of the hen. Scan the story quickly and find out how many animals are there in the story and who are they.
.T: You are so great. Later, You will listen to the story. In this time, I want you to find out what is the story about
Now, please listen carefully. Let’s go!
T puts on the headwear of the hen, the dog, the cat, the mouse, the horse and the cow to act out the story. And leads the pupils to practice the sentence “Come and play."
(Let students put on the headwear to act it out)
2. Learn the phrases.
T asks the pupils to read the story by themselves very carefully and to find out the verbs then put them in the correct orders.
Teacher do the action of every phrase while checking the answers and ask the pupils to practice.
Post-reading
Group work
Five pupils as a group and practice the dialogue: Come and play. No. I’m very busy. I’m….
Then teacher asks some groups to act it out.
Step 3: Summary
T shows the picture of the hen and asks the pupils to comment the hen. “ What do you think of the hen?”
Step 5 Homework
Read the story
What are they going to do after eating the bread? Draw a picture and write a sentence.
Step 6 Blackboard Design
A: Come and play.
