Sharing economy began as a means to profit from idle assets(闲置资产). But sharing assets has been around for thousands of years. The difference lies in the development of the Internet. It has proven to be the most effective tool in bringing people with means and people with needs together at an unprecedented rate.
People, who were not necessarily entrepreneurs, would rent out their cars or houses that are not in use to others who are looking for alternatives to traditional transportation and accommodation businesses. This peer-to-peer(点对点的) concept was simple, but its inventiveness quickly transformed their respective industries. They even transformed views regarding ownership—since using their services significantly reduces the need for owning cars or houses.
Today, the sharing economy has developed into something involving numerous dealings over the Internet. Some of the leading e-commerce websites like Amazon, Ebay, and Alibaba have now become platforms shared by small businesses to display their products. Even the delivery of sold goods is being outsourced to different businesses. Although not as apparent as ride or home-sharing, these online shopping malls are also success stories of the sharing economy.
The gig economy(零工经济) has closely been related to the sharing economy since the beginning. The former is defined by its system of filling temporary positions in organizations with independent contractors. It can even be said that the gig economy is a huge and essential part, but a part nevertheless, of the sharing economy. If the sharing economy is changing the concept of ownership, the gig economy is changing the concept of employment. Companies now widely share talents and skills in the form of outsourced help. Although this is not entirely a new occurrence, digitalization has been an enormous help.
    3. What can we conclude from paragraph 1?
    A. Sharing economy separates people.
    B. People make profits by selling their idle assets.
    C. The Internet improves the efficiency of sharing.
    D. Assets sharing is a new product of the Internet.
    4. What might be a potential result of sharing economy?
    A. Rise of house prices. B. Decrease of car sales.
    C. Fast delivery of goods. D. Success of new websites.
    5. What do we know about the gig economy?
    A. It features flexible staffing. B. It appears before sharing economy.
    C. It refers to hiring permanent workers. D. It narrows the concepts of employment.
    6. What can be the best title for the text?
    A. Future of Sharing Economy. B. Appearance of Gig Economy.
    C. Development of Sharing Economy. D. Gig Economy and Sharing Economy.
C 4. B 5. A 6. C
根据第一段的“The difference lies in the development of the Internet. It has proven to be the most effective tool in bringing people with means and people with needs together at an unprecedented rate.(区别在于互联网的发展。事实证明,它是以前所未有的速度将有能力的人和有需要的人聚集在一起的最有效工具) ”可知,互联网提高了共享的效率。故选C。
    【4题详解】

    【6题详解】
主旨大意题。根据文章的主要内容,尤其第一段的“Sharing economy began as a means to profit from idle assets(闲置资产). But sharing assets has been around for thousands of years. (共享经济最初是从闲置资产中获利的一种手段。但共享资产已经存在数千年了)”和第三段的“Today, the sharing economy has developed into something involving numerous dealings over the Internet. Climate change could turn the Arctic Ocean into a high-speed ice superhighway. Large pieces of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean are becoming thinner as old ice melts. The new ice that's replacing it travels farther and faster than the older ice does. As the new ice travels, it carries dirt, organisms and pollution along for the ride, new research shows.
Researchers have been tracking the movements of Arctic ice for several years. They noticed that the area covered by ice making the trip from one side of ocean to the other has grown larger and larger. The movement means that far-away reaches of the Arctic are becoming more connected, notes Robert Newton, from Columbia University.
The speedy ice is a problem, he explains. The reason: It increases the risk of spreading pollution from some environmental disasters, such as oil spills. An oil spill during the summer could become trapped in this autumn ice. The ice could then quickly move from one country's waters to another's, he notes, rapidly spreading the spill's impact on the environment.
Between when it forms and melts, the ice can get pushed across the Arctic Ocean by winds and ocean currents. These forces more easily pushed young, thin ice along than old ice. Newton and colleagues wondered what the impact would be on these ice rafts and the pollution they held. Less ice could mean less space to carry a large load of pollutants. But a less crowed Arctic might let the ice travel farther and faster.
In the study, the researchers put together pictures of the Arctic, which came from satellites far above the surface. They used the computer software that can recognize the edges of sea ice. This allowed them to follow the movements of the ice from formation to melting. To help them do that, they also included tracking buoys on the ice that had been equipped with GPS devices.
About 60% of Arctic ice travels less than 100 kilometers from its birthplace, they found. The rest covers an area equal to tens of thousands of square kilometers. It can travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers. And that ice is moving faster as well.
    7. What does the text focus on?
    A. Climate change is becoming more serious. B. The Arctic ice travels fast and carries pollution.
    C. It's difficult to follow the movements of the ice. D. The Arctic is likely to be covered by the ice.
    8. Why is the speedy ice a problem according to Robert Newton?
    A. It travels much faster than before. B. It is much easier to pollute than before.
    C. It results in more environmental disasters. D. It makes pollution more likely to be spread.
    9. Why did the researchers study pictures of the Arctic taken by satellites?
    A. To find out how far the ice can go.
    B. To make it clear how the ice comes into being.
    C. To learn about the original situation of the Arctic.
    D. To see how a moving ice connects itself with another.
    10. What does the underlined word "that" in paragraph 5 refer to?
    A. Using computer software. B. Taking photos of the Arctic.
    C. Keeping track of ice. D. Collecting pictures through satellites.
B 8. D 9. A 10. C

根据第一段“Climate change could turn the Arctic Ocean into a high-speed ice superhighway. Large pieces of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean are becoming thinner as old ice melts. The new ice that's replacing it travels farther and faster than the older ice does. As the new ice travels, it carries dirt, organisms and pollution along for the ride, new research shows.(气候变化可能会把北冰洋变成一条高速冰上高速公路。
根据第三段“The speedy ice is a problem, he explains. The reason: It increases the risk of spreading pollution from some environmental disasters, such as oil spills. An oil spill during the summer could become trapped in this autumn ice. The ice could then quickly move from one country's waters to another's, he notes, rapidly spreading the spill's impact on the environment.(他解释说,快速的冰层是个问题。原因是:它增加了一些环境灾难造成的污染扩散的风险,比如石油泄漏。夏天的石油泄漏可能会被困在秋天的冰层中。他指出,冰块随后会迅速从一个国家的水域转移到另一个国家的水域,从而迅速扩大泄漏对环境的影响)”可知,快速移动的冰是个问题是因为它使污染更有可能传播。故选D。
    【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“In the study, the researchers put together pictures of the Arctic, which came from satellites far above the surface. They used the computer software that can recognize the edges of sea ice. This allowed them to follow the movements of the ice from formation to melting. To help them do that, they also included tracking buoys on the ice that had been equipped with GPS devices.(在这项研究中,研究人员将北极的照片放在一起,这些照片来自远高于北极表面的卫星。他们使用了可以识别海冰边缘的计算机软件。这使得他们能够跟踪冰从形成到融化的运动。为了帮助他们做到这一点,他们还在冰上安装了装有GPS设备的浮标)”以及最后一段“About 60% of Arctic ice travels less than 100 kilometers from its birthplace, they found. The rest covers an area equal to tens of thousands of square kilometers. It can travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers. And that ice is moving faster as well.(他们发现,大约60%的北极冰从其诞生地移动不到100公里。其余的面积相当于几万平方公里。它可以移动数百公里甚至数千公里。冰也移动得更快了)”可知,研究人员研究卫星拍摄的北极照片是为了知道冰能走多远。故选A。
根据画线词上文“This allowed them to follow the movements of the ice from formation to melting.”以及后文“they also included tracking buoys on the ice that had been equipped with GPS devices.”
    D
“They tell me that you’d like to make a statue(塑像) of me-is that correct, Miss Vinnie Ream?”
The deep, gentle voice helped calm the nervous girl. Asking a favor of the President of the United States was no casual matter, especially for a seventeen-year-old girl.
“Yes, sir,” she replied, her dark eyes meeting his. “I wouldn’t have duo ask you, but my teacher, Mr. Mills, says I am ready. I plan to make it in an admirable manner. “
President Lincoln smiled. “Painters, sculptors-they’ve all tried to make the best of this ordinary face, but I’m afraid there’s not much hope. What did you have in mind, Miss Ream? A bust(半身像)?”
Before Vinnie could say yes, the President hurried on, a shade of apology in his voice.
“Of course-I shouldn’t have asked. A full-length pose would be much too big a project for a young woman your size. “
Vinnie’s face turned red. She realized she looked like a child, with her tiny figure. “Small does not mean weak, sir,” she defended herself. “I was born in the country of Wisconsin. I’ve driven teams of horses and carried water. Making a full-length clay(粘土) figure would not exhaust my strength-and that is what I intend to do!”
The President’s eyes, brightened at her show of spirit. “Sorry, madam, I have underestimated you as I didn’t know your background.”
But his smile faded as he rubbed his beard with bony fingers, in thought. “Miss Ream,” he sighed, “I’d like to let you do it, but as you know, we are in the middle of a war. How could I possibly take the time to pose for a sculpture now? I hardly have a minute to myself.”
Vinnie glanced around and noted the size of his office. “I work quickly,” she said. Her voice was soft but confident as she pointed to the corner near the windows. “If I were to bring my clay here and work for three hours every afternoon, I could complete most of the project while you are at your desk.”
The President seemed to consider her idea seriously. He got up and shook Vinnie’s hand warmly, “I’ve heard that you are a talented young woman, and I have found you charming and intelligent as well. I cannot make my decision immediately, but you will hear from me soon.”
The very next day, Vinnie received an invitation from the President.
    11. What gave Vinnie confidence to make her request of President Lincoln?
    A. Her aggressive personality.
    B. Mr. Mills’s encouraging remark.
    C. President Lincoln’s gentle voice.
    D. Her interest in a challenging job.
    12. How did President Lincoln first respond to Vinnie’s request?
    A. Pleased.
    B. Thrilled.
    C. Regretful.
    D. Doubtful.
    13. Vinnie confirmed her ability to make a full-length statue by highlighting ______.
    A. her experience from other projects
    B. her innocent childhood in the country
    C. the heavy labor she had done before
    D. the skill she picked up in Wisconsin
    14. Vinnie wanted to choose the corner near the windows to ______.
    A. achieve effects of natural lighting
    B. keep all her tools within easy reach
    C. observe the President at a right angle
    D. avoid disturbing the president’s work
    15. What message does the story convey?
    A. A strong-willed soul can reach his goal.
    B. Experience helps to promote excellence.
    C. Ups and downs make one strong.
    D. Devotion requires enthusiasm.
B 12. D 13. C 14. D 15. A
根据第三段中的“I wouldn't have dared to ask you, but my teacher, Mr. Mills, says I am ready. I plan to make it in an admirable manner. “可知,我本来不敢问你,但我的老师Mills先生说我准备好了。我打算用一种令人钦佩的方式来做这件事。由此可知,Mills先生的话给了Vinnie向林肯总统提出要求的底气。故选B。
    【12题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Of course- I shouldn't have asked. A full-length pose would be much too big a project for a young woman your size.”
根据第六段中的“I've driven teams of horses and carried water. Making a full-length clay figure would not exhaust my strength-and this is what I intend to do!”
根据倒数第四段中的“Miss Ream,” he sighed, “I'd like to let you do it, but as you know, we are in the middle of a war. How could I possibly take the time to pose for a sculpture now? I hardly have a minute to myself. “可知,总统提到自己没有时间摆姿势来让Vinnie做雕像。根据倒数第三段中的“Vinnie glanced around and noted the size of his office. “I work quickly,” she said. Her voice was soft but confident as she pointed to the corner near the windows. “If I were to bring my clay here and work for three hours every afternoon, I could complete most of the project while you are at your desk.”
故选A。

About a half-mile behind our Minnesota farm lay a pond. In summer, my brother Harry and I would run through a stand of oak trees to skip stones there. The pond wore a collar of black mud. It was not a place for swimming.
In late summer, the pond would be covered by a green and bubbly scum (起泡的浮渣).Some times a strong, unpleasant smell rose from it. We stayed away.
When winter came, the pond was once again an inviting place. One day when ice covered it, Harry said to me, “Try walking across. The ice looked solid. No water showed through it”, but I hesitated. “Go ahead.”Harry urged. “Try it. You’re lighter than I am. If the ice holds, we can run and slide carefully on it. It’ll be fun.” I wanted to please Harry and I thought about the fun of a long slide on the ice. I began to slide across the pond.
In the middle of the pond, the ice gave way with a sudden crack (裂缝)! I stretched out (伸展) my arms. The next thing I knew I was hanging on to the edge of a hole in the ice by arms outstretched on the ice. From my shoulders down I hung in icy water. I thought of the bottom of the pond. I knew it would be black and awful down there, full of mud and maybe rotting creatures.
I tried to climb out of the hole, but when I got a knee on the ice, it broke like window glass. Again and again I tried to get out. Again and again the ice broke into pieces. The hole widened. I was wearing a coat of heavy material. As it became completely wet, it dragged me down. I was tired of the struggle and rested with my arms stretched out on the ice.
I looked at Harry on shore. He seemed rooted to the spot.“I can’t get out!”I screamed when I caught some breath. Then I saw he turned and ran from the pond. Despair and scare beat me out of breath. After what seemed to be hours of fruitless waiting. I was on the verge of breaking down.

One possible version:
Just at that moment, here dashed Harry with a large V shaped oak branch. Flopping to his stomach,he pushed the branch before him and wriggled toward me. The moment a slim top branch was within reach, I grabbed it immediately. “Keep flat on your stomach!”He shouted and I did as told. Inch by inch, I was dragged out of the icy water by Harry. What a narrow escape! The next 20 minutes witnessed us stumbling our way home, with my clothes dripping and my shoes squishing water.
The moment I crashed through the kitchen door, sobbing. mum rushed over. Having unbuttoned my coat, she gave me a quick bath and then wrapped a thick blanket over me to stop my teeth-chattering chill; meanwhile she gave me a cup of milk to warm me up. Feeling comforted and relieved, we tearfully murmured an apology to mum, but the pond was still a temptation to young Harry and me, especially when winter came again.
