You've been here in China for a few days, and you may notice that Chinese people can sometimes be very direct. But don't be fooled into thinking you can     1     anything you like to them. Here are a few things foreigners     2     China should never say.

Have 'you been on vacation? You look so tanned(晒黑的) !

While many people in the West grow up with the idea that dark skin is a sign of beauty, this is not true in China. That explains     3    umbrellas are just as common on sunny days as they are on rainy days here.

          I really love China ,  but…

Don't finish that     4    . No place can be perfect. It's fine if you say something impolite about your       5      country, but don't do it about someone else's. This doesn't just happen in China, but it's fair to say the Chinese people show more love to their country.

I think  Chinese food is  the best food in the world.

What's that? As everyone in China should already know this, saying that you love Chinese food is like saying that sugar is      6     or ice is cold. It won't hurt anybody, but they may think you know      7     about their food culture. Since there are many different kinds of Chinese food, it sounds better to talk about the local food that you like most.

Keep them in mind and       8      your stay in China!

    Jaspers 26 ,  actor

    Steve , 27 ,  teacher

Your teachers only want what's best for you.

When I was in school. I never thought I'd become a teacher. I acted

badly in class, and I feel    4    about that now.  I love my job and I know how challenging it is, so I hope kids can show their  teachers more respect(尊重). I hope kids can    5    that teachers push them to do their best and not just to give them a hard time.

    Anna, 29. doctor

We all know that a good night's rest helps us stay healthy. After we. sleep for 7 or 8 hours in bed and     1    up next morning, our mind is better prepared to memorize and learn something.

But what about getting a rest during the middle of the day?

Scientists say,  " Short periods of sleep,  napping (小睡) ,  may help learning and memory. Napping can help young children learn better.  It can     2     help older people remember longer. "

Take China as an example. Chinese people are used to napping after lunch.

Recently researcher. made a survey among nearly 3000 Chinese people over 65 years old. The researchers asked them      3     they napped and for how long. They found that about 60 percent of them took a nap and they napped for 60 to 90 minutes. The research shows that napping for about an hour is the best.

However. these are the findings for those     4    the age of 65. Doctors say that napping for about an hour may be too     5     for young and healthy people. And they believe that half an hour is enough to    6    young and healthy people from feeling tired.  By doing so,     7     will help them stay awake.

Doctors also say ,  "If you have trouble falling asleep at     8     ,  take a daytime nap for less than 45 minutes and don't nap after 3 p. m.  in the afternoon.

Nowadays students are under great pressure. Keeping happy can help study better. Good habits can bring us

74  and help us to achieve our goals. So they are beneficial to our achievements.

However, positive habits are hard to develop. People fail and   75   mistakes when making changes and trying new things. They will probably not succeed the first time they do it. That's just life and ~6 to feel upset about. What you are supposed to do next is trying   77  , and developing the positive habits gradually. Here are three little habits that can make a big difference in your life.

78   to be healthy. How you take care of yourself will make a difference in the quality() of your life.  The small habits of caring  79  your body and spirit will give you the energy to achieve your goals and increase your health and happiness.

Don't forget to forgive(原谅) others. Forgiving takes you one step 80 to your happiness. Make a habit of not

holding hatred(仇恨). It does nothing but hurts your own happiness and success. Forgiving yourself doesn't mean you are a loser. Instead, you will be more likely to get relief and success.

Encourage yourself to be curious(好奇的). There is always something valuable to learn in life   81  we stop

learning. And as long as you follow your heart and your curiosity, you won't miss out on learning. The habit of being curious means you will always benefit from life. So why not have these habits to stay happy?

What's the purpose of reading books? What books should I read? These are two questions I've been asking myself my whole life.

For the first question,  I guess I've already got the answer. I read as much as I can so that I can be a man with

wisdom. I think that's  74  I keep reading. And I think that's the best gift that reading can bring you. And for the

second question, I can't say I have the best answer. But I do want to suggest some  75  of books you can read.

First, you should read books which teach you something about culture. You can think deeply  76  knowing a

culture well. You can bring yourself a colorful world that you have never seen before when you know several cultures.

Second, you should read books which teach you how to understand the nature of things. The search for  beauty  77  cultures developing. You need to know how to find the beauty and how to understand  78  .

Third, you should read books which teach you something that you haven't known yet. You may think you have read a lot,  79  there are still too many left to know. You can't say for sure that you've already known enough.

Fourth, you should read books which teach you about all the new things happening now. The world is  80    without a stop. You need to follow it and don't fall behind. Finally, you should read books which make you 81  .You are not a learning machine. You need to enjoy the physical and mental pleasure that every human enjoys.

This cheers you up and gives you energy to learn better.

These are the five kinds of books that I make myself read. And I think everybody should read them. Don't you

    agree with me?

    74. _________  75. _________  76. _________  77. _________

    78. _________  79. _________  80. _________  81. _________

    答案:74.why  75.kinds  76.by  77.keeps  78.it  79.but  80.changing/developing   81.happy/pleased

As you grow up, you need to explore the world in new ways , while your parents need to protect you  74 danger. Different ideas might lead to fights in families. Do you know how to make your home a happy and healthy place? Try the following.

        Respect

Respect is more than doing what you are told to do. And it is not just about valuing what your parents have to say. It is   75   about your parents valuing what you have to say. Mark, 14, puts it this way, "I always try to understand what they are trying to tell me,   76   bad it may sound. At the same time, I hope my parents can try to understand what I tell them. "

         Communication

You can  77  with your parents by expressing your thoughts in a proper way. What's more, you need to talk to your parents politely , or they will not feel like talking to you. Communication can't happen unless  78  sides are willing to talk to each other.

         Trust

If your parents trust you, you are more likely to get along well with   79  and have more freedom. To make

your parents trust you more, you have to show them that you're worth trusting through your actions. For example, let your parents know what's going on at school and keep your bedroom door open when you are back.

        Spending time together

Most of the time, you think your parents are the persons who are strict with you and always give you a lot of rules. But don't  80  that parents are more than rule-makers. They're interesting people who like to watch movies, play cards, and go shopping-just like you! Remember that spending time together can build trust and communication.

Your relationship with your parents may be sometimes good and sometimes bad. But remember that parents can be of great   81  when things are going wrong. So try your best to improve the relationship between you and your parents. If your parents see that you try your best, they will do the same.

    74. _________  75. _________  76. _________  77. _________

    78. _________  79. _________  80. _________  81. _________
