一、创设情境---引锚Warming up by asking questions Teacher shows a picture of a trowel. Ask: Look, I have a trowel. What can we use it to do? Ss: To dig holes. T: Hobo is going to dig holes. Do you know why? Let’s find out the answer together. Teacher plays the tape and students find the answer: Hobo will plant trees. Teacher plays the tape again and let the students answer more questions: (1) Why does Hobo want to plant more trees? (Because trees are good for us.) (2) Does Eddie want to go with Hobo? (Yes, he does.) (3) What does Eddie want to plant? (He wants to plant breadfruit trees.) 二、自主合作---探锚 探究活动一Talking about four pictures on page 106. Read after the tape. Teacher: Listen to the tape and follow in chorus. Pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation. Divide the class into two big groups and read the four pictures. (活动方式:独自回答—小组讨论、校对) 探究活动二 Activities Organize the students to play the roles and read the dialogue. Teacher: Work in pairs and read the conversation between Eddie and Hobo. You can add your own ideas. Choose some students to act out their shows. (活动方式:独自回答——小组校对、讨论——表演) 探究活动三 Welcome to the unit
Teacher shows a picture and ask students : What’s the boy doing? Why? T: We can protect the environment by recycling waste. Teach new phrases: reduce air pollution, take shorter showers, save energy, turn off the lights. Let the students finish the exercises of Part A.
Teacher presents the following sentences for the students: (1) Turn off computers when we are not using them. (2) Use cold water instead of warm or hot water to wash our hands when possible. (3) Use both sides of a piece of paper. (4) Send e-cards instead of paper cards. (5) Buy products that you can use again. (6) Reduce waste.
Teacher: Living a green life is helpful for protecting the environment. Mr Wu and the students are talking about it. Play the tape and let the students read after the tape, try to find the methods of protecting the environment: (1) take the underground to school/work (2) choose public transport, ride bicycles (3) take shorter showers to save water (4) turn off the lights when we leave a room 4. Let the students practice the dialogue. Teacher: Do you know how to live a green life? Discuss it in groups of four. (活动方式: 小组讨论—表演)
