Reading: Shuld I be allwed t make my wn decisins?

Many teenagers have hbbies. But smetimes these hbbies can get in the way f schlwrk, and parents might wrry abut their child's success at schl. Teenagers ften think they shuld be allwed t practice their hbbies as much as they want. D yu agree?
Liu Yu, a fifteen-year-ld frm Shandng, is a running star. He is in his schl running team, and has always wanted t be a prfessinal athlete. Hwever, his parents wn't allw him t train as much as he wuld like t. "Of curse we want t see Liu Yu achieve his dreams,” says Mr Liu, “and we knw hw much he lves running. That's great, and my wife and I watched him in every ne f his races. We have nthing against running! But we d think that ur sn needs t be realistic. Nw he is getting lder, he needs t think abut what will happen if he desn't becme a prfessinal runner in the end.”
Liu Yu desn't really agree. “Well, I think I shuld be allwed t make decisins fr myself,” he says. “ My parents have always taught me the imprtance f wrking hard and nt just t d what I enjy. I understand this. But I'm serius abut running. Being a prfessinal runner is the nly thing I have ever wanted t d.”
Mr and Mrs Liu believe that Liu Yu shuld study hard in the evenings, and s they dn't allw him t practice running n schl nights. “I knw this might seem strict,” says Mrs Liu, “but we think we're ding the right thing. He has t understand that very few peple can becme prfessinal athletes. It's a very difficult dream t achieve. We dn't allw him t practice every day because we think he needs t spend time n his hmewrk.”
But Liu Yu still desn't agree. “I knw my parents care abut me,” he says. “But they are always talking abut what will happen if I dn't succeed. But I will succeed! I think I shuld be allwed t make this decisin myself. Only then will I have a chance f achieving my dream.”
After yu read, read alud the text again, t yurself, r t the tape and cpy dwn all the expressins, t.
Part 2: Teaching Resurces(第二部分:教学资源)
The Truble with Teenagers
Peple nw care mre abut what teenagers are thinking abut and feeling because they knw there are hard mments in the life f teenagers.
Varieties f trubles are seriusly puzzling teenagers, such as hard study, the gap between parents and kids, relatinship between themselves and their classmates, teachers and friends.
Amng them, the prblem f "the generatin gap" has becme mre and mre bvius. The argument n this is widely spread. Different peple hld different views. But we cannt fail t admit the fact that there are n hearts as delicate as thse f teenagers, as everything is happening t them fr the first time. Teenagers are certainly different frm adults in many ways. They dn't knw the right way in which they can make everyne happy and satisfied. They are certainly lack f experience. That's why parents are always cmplaining abut their being misunderstd. They say, they lve their kids s much as t d everything fr them. Is that the true lve their children want? N, teenagers say, the true lve which they lng fr shuld cntain curage, crrect guide and supprt instead f endless cmplaints abut marks, marks, marks and strng pressure. S the teenagers are nw even said t have been leading a harder life.
The truble with teenagers is that they haven't learned hw t be cntrlled. Living life right dwn the middle, with all its attendant landmines, is all they knw. It hasn't ccurred t them t run in a zigzag pattern.
They are mre emtinal than peple think. If smething serius happens t them, they will be deeply hurt. Yu can always hear the vice frm a teenager that they haven't learned enugh hw t appear t be fine.
The adults have recgnized that they shuld shw mre care fr the teenagers, especially their schl life. Teenagers have their wn special way f thinking.
I have als gt my wn trubles. My grandpa passed away in September last year, which has greatly changed my life. He was even ne f my best friends ever since I was brn. He lived with my family fr the past 18 years, the happiest time in his eyes. I have never admitted his death as a fact till nw.
Things which happened between us have cme t my mind. All ver again, I felt thse pwerful lsses crisscrssing my wn heart, and I knw that when yu say gdbye t a belved grandparent, yu say gdbye t smething happy, smething yung in yurself. And that smething never really returns and the pain never really ges away.
N matter hw hard a life the teenagers are leading, they will frever stand still and march frward straight and bravely.

Dear Editr,
I wuld like t reply t the article “Helping and Learning” in yur last newspaper. I agree with sme ideas and disagree with thers.
The article said that students shuld be allwed t g t an ld peple’s hme and sing sngs and perfrm a play fr them. That is very gd fr us. We shuld be allwed t take time t d things like that mre ften. We shuld be allwed t visit primary schls and help teach yung students.
Yur article said that helping teach yung students wuld be a great experience fr us. I disagree with yu n that. Sme f us wuld like t d ther jbs than teaching in the future. S helping teach yung students at primary schls wuld be a waste f time fr them. Fr example, my friend Tian Ge wants fr a newspaper. We need time t relax urselves first and then we can d sme vlunteering wrk helping thers.
