    Unit 5 Why do you like pandas Period 4Teaching aimsKnowledge aims:Ss can use the words and useful expressions: save symbol flag forget get lost place Water danger be in (great) danger cut down tree kill ivory over be made of  Ss can know the difficult situations of the animalsSs can know how to protect the animalsAbility aims:To train the Ss ability of describing the animals and their difficult situations.To train the Ss reading abilities by drawing a mind map..Emotion aims:Ss will know how to protect the animals2.  Teaching important and difficult points:Ss can describe the details of the animals freely and can show different ways of protecting  animals .3. Teaching aids: PPT, a tape player.4. Teaching procedures:StepsPurposeStep 1: RevisionA guessing game  Make an English riddle and let students guess what animal it is.  1. Get Ss to tell the different description of the animals.2. Arouse Ss’ enthusiasm of learning and taking part in this class. Step 2: Pre reading ( Discussion) 1, Discuss the difficult situations the animals  are facing. 2, Discuss why the animals are in great danger , at the same time ,  present some key words  and phrases : save flag water danger be in (great) danger cut down tree kill ivory over be made of  Stimulate students to think actively and express their opinions.Let Ss learn the new words, phrases and   sentences of this period directly. Step 3 While-reading1, Read the passage quickly and tick the title .  (2b)2, Read the passage more carefully and complete the mind map.  (2c)3, Listen to the tape and imitate the intonation and pronunciation , meanwhile, underline some key phrases.   To train Ss reading ability by catching the key words and by making up a mind map.  Step 4 . Post- reading1, Let students try to retell the passage according to the mind map. 2, Discussion .   (1), What can you learn from the article ?(2), What should we do from now on ? 3, Sum up: How can we protect the animals?4, Lets translate some proverbs (sayings). To train Ss expressing ability.To stimulate students to protect the animals in their daily life.To expand students knowledge  Step 5 ConsolidationDo some exercises on the PPT. Ss consolidate the important and difficult sentences in this period.Step 6 Homework1, Get students to listen to the tape and try to imitate its intonation and pronunciation for at least three times.2, Let students memorize the new words learned in this period.3, Get students to finish off the exercises in (作业本)。4, Get students to rewrite the passage in their own words. Consolidate the language points in this period.Bb.               Unit 5   Why do you like pandas ?                                Period 4         hurt animals                        protect animals kill animals                         show love to animals ( not kill animals)                 cut down trees        animals        save / plant trees       living places                        help animals       food                               not buy things made of .       weather                            ask others to        water
