1. Warming up:
1) Check the hmewrk f Lessn 6 in the activity bk, giving them sme explanatins if necessary.
2) Review yesterday’s lessn by using the card fr inducing a teacher.
3) Talk abut daily activities t prepare fr tday’s lessn.
2. New lessn:
Step 1: Lead in
T: I, tgether with my sn, went t visit my parents last week. We had a gd time there. It’s a small village and I enjyed the fresh air. We als went t the fields. My sn was very interested in the insects; he knew lts f plants, t.
What did yu d last week? Where did yu g? Did yu enjy yur time there? What happened t yu?
(Ask sme vlunteers t intrduce their activities in the late weeks, guiding them by the abve questins. Remember t praise them fr their perfrmance. Then thers will be encuraged t share their experiences. Try “pair wrk” later.)
Step 2: Listening the tape
T: I’ve knwn what yu did last week. Tday’s we’ve gt a page frm Jenny’s diary bk. Let’s share what happened t Jenny. There are tw questins fr yu after listening t the tape.

Step 3 : Reading and discussin
T: Nw it’s time fr yu t read the text by yurselves. Read it silently, please. Yu can get mre abut what Jenny did. Then have a discussin with the fllwing questins:
1) Abut basketball: Did Jenny make any new friends? Wh was n Jenny’s team? Wh was n the ther team? Did Jenny’s team win the game?
2) Abut last Saturday: Wh bught Jenny a pair f jeans? Did she wear them t schl? What ther did Jenny and her mther buy?
3) Abut yesterday’s lessn: What did they d in tday’s English lessn? Wh did Jenny talk t? Where did that girl invite Jenny g next Sunday?
(After the students practise in pairs , ask several pairs t discuss in frnt f the class. Encurage any new questins frm the students.)

T make the students remember the text well. Help them t retell the diary.

Step 5: Explanatin abut the tense
Explain the difference between the General Present Tense and the General Past Tense. Use Chinese if necessary.
T: In English, we use different tenses t describe things happening in different time. We use the General Present Tense t express the usual state and activities happening
ften r regularly. If we describe smething in the paste, we shuld use the General Past Tense. The key difference between the tw tenses is the different frms f the verbs used as predicate. Fr the “usual things”, we use the verbs themselves and verbs’ past frms fr things happening in the past. S we shuld remember the past frms f the wrds. Lk at the list belw:
play --- played ; intrduce --- intrduced; are --- were; is/am --- was; buy --- bught; lse --- lst; buy --- bught; wear --- wre; like --- liked; talk --- talked; have --- had; invite --- invited. (intrduce the rules f getting the past frm f verbs; make sure the students there are sme special past frms that they shuld remember.)

T: All right, we’ve learnt Jenny’s diary. And we’ve knwn what she did after schl, last Saturday and what happened in this mrning’s English lessn. Nw let’s try t write a letter t ne friend f yurs. Just like what Jenny wrte in her diary, yu can tell yur friend smething abut yur first tw weeks in schl, fr example, abut lessns, teachers, classmates, r what yu did after schl. Als a funny stry yu gt t knw.
