As spring advances acrss the Midwest, a new study lking at blming(盛开的) flwers suggests nnnative plants might live lnger than native plants due t climate change.
The study—led by researchers at Indiana University and Michigan State University—has shwn warming temperatures affect native and nnnative flwering plants differently, which culd change the lk f lcal place ver time. “When a plant flwers determines whether it will be pllinated(授粉) by bees r ther insects and hw much time it will have t prduce seeds. Our data makes me wrry that we will have a very weedy wrld in ur future,” said the study's lead authr Jen Lau, an assciate prfessr in Indiana University.
The researchers' findings suggest nnnative plants may be better at shifting their flwering time cmpared t native plants. These differences are thught t influence a plant's success bth nw and in future warmer envirnments.
Lau and her students simulated(模拟) glbal warming in fields planted with 45 native and nnnative plants. Sme areas were warmed by infrared (红外线的) heaters, while ther areas were nt. Lau's lab surveyed all plants t determine when they first flwered and hw lng they flwered.
When plants were grwn in warmed plts simulating the climate change expected in the Midwest by the end f the century, the researchers fund that nnnative plants flwered mre than 11 days earlier n average. In cntrast, native plants didn't change flwering times at all when warmed.
They als fund earlierflwering nnnative plants had greater gegraphic spread, suggesting that flwering earlier may help prmte successful ccupatin acrss large areas.
The findings suggest imprtant differences in hw native and nnnative plants respnd t climate change.

New research shws that peple with blue eyes have a single, cmmn ancestr.A team at the University f Cpenhagen have tracked dwn a genetic mutatin (突变) which tk place 6,000-10,000 years ag and is the cause t the eye clur f all blueeyed humans alive n the planet tday.
“Originally, we all had brwn eyes,” said Prfessr Hans Eiberg.“But a genetic mutatin affecting the OCA2 gene (基因)in ur bdy resulted in the creatin f a switch, which literally turned ff the ability t prduce brwn eyes.” The OCA2 gene cdes fr the scalled P prtein, which is invlved in the prductin f melanin (黑色素).It gives clur t ur hair, eyes and skin.
The switch, which is lcated in the gene clse t OCA2, des nt, hwever, turn ff the gene entirely, but rather limits its actin t reducing the prductin f melanin in the eyeball—effectively turning brwn eyes t blue. The effect f the switch n OCA2 is very specific therefre. If the OCA2 gene had been cmpletely destryed r turned ff, human beings wuld be withut melanin in their hair, eyes r skin clur.
Variatin in the clur f the eyes frm brwn t green can all be explained by the amunt f melanin in the eyeball, but blueeyed individuals nly have a small degree f variatin in the amunt f melanin in their eyes.“Frm this we can cnclude that all blueeyed individuals are linked t the same ancestr,” says Prfessr Eiberg.“They have all inherited (继承) the same switch at exactly the same spt in their DNA.” Brwneyed individuals, by cntrast, have cnsiderable individual variatin in the area f their DNA that cntrls melanin prductin.
The mutatin f brwn eyes t blue represents neither a psitive nr a negative mutatin. It is ne f several mutatins such as hair clur, baldness, and beauty spts, which neither increases nr reduces a human's chance f survival. As Prfessr Eiberg says, “it simply shws that nature is cnstantly affecting the human genes and trying ut different changes as it des s.”
5.What is the finding f Prfessr Hans Eiberg's team? D

C.The eye clur can help discver what peple's ancestrs were.
D.A genetic mutatin leads t the change f peple's eye clur.
根据第一段第二句中的“a genetic mutatin(突变). the cause f the eye clur f all blueeyed humans alive n the planet tday.”
6.What can we learn abut “the switch” frm Paragraph 3? C
A.It prduces melanin directly.
B.It can be limited by ther genes.
C.It helps prduce less melanin.
D.It helps OCA2 functin in ur bdy.
根据第三段第一句中的“The rather limits its actin t reducing the prductin f melanin in the eyeball”可知,它有助于产生较少的黑色素。故选C。
7.Why can we cnclude all blueeyed individuals are linked t the same ancestr? D
A.They have almst the same gene.
B.They have mre variatin in genes.
C.They have mre melanin in their eyes.
D.They have a small degree f variatin in the amunt f melanin.

答案:
Last Friday, we were having ur class eq \(while,\s\d8(when)) ur teacher Miss Li suddenly slipped and eq \(fall,\s\d8(fell)) n the grund. All the students were eq \(cncern,\s\d8(cncerned)) abut her.Helped by sme students, I carried her n eq \(∧,\s\d8(my/the)) back t the clinic immediately. Her left leg was turned ut t be brken and she had t stay in hspital fr half a mnth. The fllwing day, we paid a visit eq \(fr,\s\d8(t)) her with flwers and fruits.eq \(See,\s\d8(Seeing)) her leg wrapped in eq \(bandage,\s\d8(bandages)), all f us felt srry fr her, hping she wuld recver sn.Unexpectedly, nly five days eq \(late,\s\d8(later)), Miss Li returned t the class n a wheelchair t give us lessns. We were eq \(deep,\s\d8(deeply)) mved, all rising t applaud her.
解析:
故将while改为when。
be cncerned abut sb.
n ne's/the back意为“在某人的背上”。故添加my/the。
故删除was。
