Is your mobile phone directory(电话簿) full of phone numbers of people you don’t really want to talk to? Do you go out with people from work or school more often than with your real friends? Do you say “yes” to invitations? Because you think you should , not because you want to? If you answered yes to at least two of these questions, then perhaps you need to “edit your friends”.
Nowadays, people like to spend a lot of time with people at work or classmates at school. The result is that we don’t have enough time to see our real , close friends. As our lives get busier, it becomes more important to spend the little free time we have with people we really want to see people we love and who really love us.
Who are the friends you need to edit ? A few years ago, I read a book about how to throw away unnecessary possessions(物品). It said you should ask yourself about each thing you have: Is it useful? Do I like it? Do I feel better every time I look at it? If the answer is no to any of those questions, you should throw it away. Maybe we should ask the same questions about our friends. What kind of friends will you probably need to edit? Sometimes it’s an old friend. Somebody who you had a lot in common with in the past , but who , when you meet now , you have very little or nothing to say to. Or it might be a new friend who you get on quite well with, but who is taking up too much of your time. Next time one of these people calls you and advises a meeting, think “Do I really want to see this person?” and if the answer is no, say no , and make an excuse . In that way , you will have more time to spend with your real friends.
( )4. When do people need to edit their friends?
A.They have moved to a different area. B. They have no time with your real friend.
C.Some of their friends don’t talk very much. D. Their friends are people from work or school.

C. We shouldn’t treat our friends as possessions.
D. We should ask ourselves who our real friends are.
( )7. Where can you probably find this article?
A.A newspaper B.A sports magazine C.A section fiction(小说) D.A story book

If you could see a movie of your life before you leave it, would you want to leave it? Maybe not. The excitement of living is that you don’t know what is coming.
Sure, it’s hard to see uncertainty in such positive(积极的) light. When you are out of work or when you feel like you’re feeling. But uncertainty is really another word for chance.
When Alison left Harvard, she had chances all over the place but had no idea what she wanted to do. She took a job in consulting(咨询), but she knew she wouldn’t stay there. She took the GRE and scored so high that she was able to get more money by teaching students. Still, she didn’t think she wanted to go to graduate school, Allison knew he wasn’t doing what she wanted, but she didn’t know what she wanted.
She worried. All her friends were going to graduate school or starting their own business. She was lost and felt that she would never find anything out. After six years, Allison, by having a general plan in mind, got married, moved to the Midwest and used her consulting past to get a great job. Allison knew that she spent her years finding her way: time well spent , and time we must all take if we are being honest with ourselves.
The only way to lead an interesting life is to face uncertainty and make a choice , or your life is not your own-- it is a way someone else has chosen. Moment of uncertainty are when you make your life, when you become you who you are. Uncertainty usually begins with a job hunt, but it doesn’t end there. Every new role(角色) we take on means another round of uncertainty. Don’t be afraid of it. In fact, you should find some ways to deal with uncertainty.

People talk about the problems of losing weight, but most people don’t know how the body works or they are unwilling to change their lifestyles.
One problem is that when they try to lose weight, people often feel hungry. In fact, being thin doesn’t mean eating less. It just means eating differently. You should eat more food rich in fiber(纤维) instead of food high in fat. It is possible to be thin without ever feeling hungry. Eating more nutrient-rich(营养丰富的) food also means you’ll feel less hungry because your body is getting what it needs.
Another difficulty is the desire(欲望). Most people say that they cannot eat their favorite food because of the weight-loss plans, which causes(导致) them to eat too much “bad” food. A thinning plan shouldn’t mean you can never eat “bad” food. While there is some food that you should care about, you can still take small amounts(量) now and then. Eating one chocolate bar once in a while is not going to end a healthy eating plan.
Time can be another problem. When you’re busy, it seems much easier to just have a snack than to prepare a “good” meal. Slimming doesn’t mean you will have to spend more time. You can fill your fridge with some food that can be thrown into a bag and eaten any time. Also, with a little pre-planning(预先计划), you can make large healthy meals at once.
