Nw, scientists reprt that they’ve fund a tiny piece f string(线)n a stne tl made by Neanderthals abut 50,000 years ag. Befre this, the ldest piece f string was made by humans abut 19,000 years ag.
On the side f the tl, researchers fund a bit f string abut 0.55 millimeters lng. Almst all things made frm plants during the time f the Neanderthals have brken dwn and disappeared, s it’s very special t find this bit f string.
The scientists dn’t knw if the string was attached t the tl r if the tw were pressed tgether ver time. But that desn’t interest them as much as the fact that Neanderthals knew hw t make string.
Making string is a cmplicated prcess. Bruce Hardy, the lead scientist n the prject, says that knwing hw t make string was imprtant technlgy fr humans. “We wuldn’t really be here tday, where we are in the wrld, withut twisted fibers (捻制的纤维品),” he said. S learning that Neanderthals als knew hw t make string is an imprtant discvery.

When scters began t appear n city streets, they were cnsidered as a way t slve traffic prblems. It was thught that many peple wuld take scters instead f driving, alleviating traffic, pllutin, and parking prblems.
Cmpanies put lts f scters in ppular lcatins arund busy cities. Custmers use smartphnes t find and rent the scters. It usually csts abut $1 t unlck a scter and then abut 15 t 25 cents fr every 15 minutes after that. When custmers finish, they simply park the scters in any place that’s cnvenient. Scter cmpanies can lck, unlck, and fllw scters ver the Internet. But sme peple wrry because this lets scter cmpanies cllect infrmatin n where riders g.
As scters became ppular, cmpetitin quickly grew between cmpanies trying t get riders t use their scters. The cmpanies ften didn’t even check with cities befre they began leaving thusands f scters n city streets. Sn scters were being left almst everywhere.
Scters weren’t just in the way, they were als dangerus. Scters can g as fast as 16 miles per hur. They’re t fast fr sidewalks and can put walkers in danger.

In defence f free health care
Health care is regarded as an imprtant way t imprve the health and well-being f peple arund the wrld. In many cuntries f the wrld, free health care is prvided by the gvernment, 36 Clearly, we all have t pay fr this service thrugh ur taxes.
37 They say that peple wh take unnecessary risks shuld nt receive this free health care. Fr example, peple wh jin in risky activities such as skiing are mre likely t have an accident. It has been suggested that these peple shuld pay fr any medical treatment they require.
38 Firstly, it’s difficult t say exactly what is risky and what is nt. Fr example, nt ding enugh exercise is prbably mre risky than skiing in the lng term. As a result, it isn’t fair t give free health care t an inactive persn and make the skier pay. 39 Clearly, these peple shuld receive free medical treatment if they are hurt n the jb.
Finally, I wuld like t say that I think free health care is a gd thing. I understand that the system is nt perfectly fair because sme peple use it mre than thers.
